My first thought too. Someone's nannan's knitted it and stuck 'circa 1900' on the listing by looks.

 

She may have only knitted one so it’s rare !

 

Looking at the Historical kits 1913 was the first time Black socks were introduced with red on the turnovers. may be a clue. ?
Do like it mind. Would look great in the museum.

True! These things are worth how much someone is willing to pay. And if it was knitted circa 1900 that's pretty cool. But for that price I'd want some kind of proof; and actually for that age I'd expect to pay a lot more. I smell a rat!

That's what I thought. It's not black and white for starters.

 

I think that pre 1900, our colour wasn’t red not that that proves anything

 

Wiki says our colour was blue until 1904

 

When they say it was created 1900, I think they mean the post was listed at 7pm.

 

There’s a good reason it’s rare.
