This Government have a lot to answer for, but they can't be expected to single-handedly fix stupid.

No but they are taking full advantage of stupid for their own ends rather than acting in the interests of the country

Yesterday Liz Truss said that families needn't worry about the previous potential figures because the maximum they would pay is £2,500.

It's not that they're failing to fix stupid, they're encouraging it and reinforcing it.

Are you saying then that everything a Labour politician says can be trusted but nothing that a Conservative one says can be? I've been on this earth long enough to know that anything a politician of ANY colour says (blue, green, red, yellow whatever) should usually be taken with a pinch of salt. Not always, but usually there's some hidden agenda behind whatever they say.

Trust nobody, use my own common sense is how I tend to live. I've done ok.

I do. I heard the Prime Minister say it with my own ears yesterday. It’s clear that even she who devised the scheme doesn’t understand it. That’s what you get for ‘lending’ someone your vote!

I've not heard Truss, but the media have been repeating "£2,500 price cap" for quite a while now, which has been grinding me gears. They also conveniently forget the significant price rise earlier in the year.

To explain it using your beer analogy id say that say the price cap is like putting a maximum cost on a pint of beer. This is not the same however as putting a cap on the cost of the total number of pints of beer you drink.

That's the way the Tories work.....say things so ambiguous that they can never be held to account, thus blaming the masses for "not understanding " when things go t1ts up for people.

Maybe they just think it’s like when you pay a higher rent and have bills included. Or maybe they think £2500 sounds like a massive amount of money to them and so it sounds about right to cover anything they could ever imagine using in the past and haven’t realised just how much energy has gone up by.

I’ve not but I’m on a fix until April so there’s no point in doing one.

Me too, though I have started doing monthly readings now so I can keep control of payments.

No I was over exaggerating of course Labour politicians are less than perfect - I am not actually a natural labour voter anyway but the current campaign of gaslighting from the Tories is completely out of order.

Until the Johnson decided to ride roughshod over conventions in general most MP's of either party didn't spout bare faced easily provable lies to the Media and Parliament. But now they have discovered they can do it without any consequences its become almost the norm for the government. Labour and the Libdems and even the SNP seem to be a bit more careful about what the say in public.

Truss for example went around the country on local radio yesterday still saying it was a £2500 price cap and wont correct it thats what makes me really angry

People really are that thick - I work in the fire and rescue service and we've had reports of videos doing the rounds on social media recommending heating homes by tea lights on plates under flower pots. Use about 5 tea lights in an average sized room to keep it toasty.
Some of them will get very toasty if half wits have got naked flames here there and anywhere............
