Bought tickets in 2021 but it got cancelled, Never gave it another thought then today tickets turned up by email. Nice surprise.
Funny enough I actually went to see them at the City Hall in the early eighties & they were excellent but 40 years have elapsed so I do not know how good they are now but lets hope you have a cracking night.
It would be impossible for all of these long-lasting bands to still have their original line ups. So much time has gone by that retirement and death has decimated most of their numbers but that doesn't mean the sound will be any different now. I bet when the familiar strains of "I'm Mandy, Fly Me" float from the stage you could close your eyes and think it was 1974 all over again. Wishbone Ash are of a similar vintage and there might only be Andy Powell left of the original line up but they still sound great. The current crop can belt out "Throw Down the Sword" and "Persephone" and, although it's not the same, it's still worth watching and listening to. I'd imagine 10CC are still good value on stage.
Think I can trump that, Jax! That one's from 1975. I'm afraid it shows how old I am! Look at the price! I tabbed the year with this helpful site: Sheffield City Hall listing – Sheffield Music Archive
I've got loads of them from the late sixties/early seventies. City Hall Sheffield was on all the major tour schedules and I saw Dark Side of the Moon performed around the time it came out. Genesis (when they were good). Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Mike Oldfield and many more. All for around a pound a ticket. Nowadays you need to take out a bank loan to get one.
10cc press release: "I say I don't like cricket (Oh no!) I love it I don't like cricket (No no!) I love it Don't you walk through my words You got to show some respect Don't you walk through my words 'Cause you ain't heard me out yet Tickets are still available".
Saw them at holmfirth picturedrome about ten years ago. A couple more of original line up then I think. They were brilliant tbh. Graeme gouldman did a warm up acoustic turn of the songs he'd written for other people.
Saw them at Reading Festival mid seventies. Booed onto stage, bottles of pi55 being hurled, Hour n half later cheered off as if Zeppelin had just played. Utterly surreal.
My fav all time band, well the original 4, only Graham Gouldman left now but the drummer Paul Burgess was with them as a touring memer since day one and Rick fenn guitar joined when Godley and Creme departed, still put on a great show, talented musicians
