My second game this season, thought I'd take my partner and her mam for a couple of hours at the footy and thank goodness that Exeter played some or there wouldn't have been any. That being said, the game has made me realise that anyone harbouring thoughts of this side reaching the playoffs, or indeed, promotion are seriously deluding themselves, I'm going to name some players that, quite frankly, are NOT good enough for this club or this division. Herbie Kane Cadden Kitching Benson Aitchison This is purely my opinion, but, after shelling out £84.00 I feel I have the right to this opinion. I'm sure that Duff is astute enough (I would hope) to see the areas where improvements could be made in January, but, getting back to my earlier point, I think a season of consolidation is the best we can hope for, because promotion by whatever means isn't going to happen.
It’s one bad game. Let’s not get too carried away. We’ve played very well in most games, as our points tally suggests.
Certainly you have the right to that opinion but seems a little harsh to make such judgments about those players after 2 games? (Unless of course you've been watching on iFollow?) Kane and Benson have looked really impressive at times, Aitchinson has had his moments and Kitching was up there with our better players today. Undecided on Cadden but then he was in the L2 team of the season so fully understand why we brought him in It's a very new team, new way of playing and we'll have games like today but we've also had games where we've played much, much better
I don’t think we should get carried away about a poor display and result in the same way as we shouldn’t get carried away by performances and results such as Wednesday. Yes we were second best today, even though we had more attempts at goal than them. Exeter fully deserved their win but I didn’t see a top 10 side in them today. As for us, we’ll continue to be inconsistent and the same players you have mentioned above will have good games as they have previously this season. We’re doing ok so far with a lot more improving to do
Yes. We were awful today. We were awful against Wycombe and Lincoln at home too. We then Won 4 on the bounce. To be fair if these lads we have playing for us were all world beaters and performed week in and week out, they wouldn't be playing at league 1 level, would they? If you want some entertainment, get yourself to Rotherham Road playing fields tomorrow at 11 a.m. where my local Sunday league team are playing Northside club. It won't cost you £84 either
I'm deluding myself, I do it every season.. I'm seriously hoping this post comes back to haunt thee..
It is a lot of money for 3rd division. I can see the frustration at the performance. Can't see the stay away fans rushing to get back at the pay on the day prices.
Players you have mentioned the majority have done well in the recent run we've had - certainly been more good performances than poor
Haha The minute we lose one all of a sudden the players are nowhere near good enough. Take a look at the table and tell me who is in 5th place? Don’t get me wrong we were poor today and deservedly lost. But other games we have been much better. We will have more bad games and we will win some. Some of the players you are saying aren’t good enough have been excellent in other games Benson in particular I’ve no idea where we will finish but will guess somewhere between 3rd and 10th from what I’ve seen so far this season
I think we all delude ourselves regarding our own clubs to some extent, but, I stand by my assessment that it'll be mid table come seasons end
We were absolutely w*nk today. No doubt about that. It's a bit daft to be suddenly writing off the play-offs though. We're still 5th, and today, Portsmouth and Peterborough have both drawn at home, and Derby and Bolton have both lost. Plenty of time to go yet. We could still do with a striker though.
.Opinions are good, having an input is good, expressing your view's is good, but Barnsley are still 5th and thats not bad with this shower we have, C,O,Y,R,
It's not the losing, it's part and parcel of the game, its the manner of the loss. Just as an aside, how on earth does Herbie Kane get in the side ahead of Connell?
I thought Aitchison was motm today never stopped running, I watched Exeter against Forest Green a couple weeks back and they looked impressive, with our flat performance I'm not surprised by the result. We've no divine right to win every game but can be deluded enough to think we will, it would be a miserable afternoon if not.
I wonder how many daft people turned up at Oakwell today expecting to get beat? You can do a lot with that law of averages. Let's not sugar coat it. It was a crap result. I won't jump off a cliff but I won't run round streets with my willy hanging out brandishing an Exeter scarf either.
