    would it matter if e.g we missed out on the playoffs to Cardiff or got relegated on goal difference by one goal that wouldn’t have been scored in correct size nets??

    Yes, as in the example above. It would depend what time in the game you got the free kick as to whether you score or not

    I think most clubs would be more concerned that we managed to get promoted part way through the season.

    Really surprised that the game was allowed to go ahead knowing this was the case. Obviously the rules must allow it but it doesn't seem right.

    Eh. Who mentioned part way through season? That goal will still be there at end of season and could affect the league. Probably won’t. but could relegate a team or effect playoff places

    Given that probably more minor things like corner flags having to be in position, I would say yes, both goals should be of equal measurements and dimensions. The laws of the field of play, should not be messed with, even if it is is unintentional, once it’s known then it needs to be corrected

    The Ponty end goal posts at Oakwell have never been plum. You can clearly see them slightly leaning from the West Stand. Either that, or the rest of the ground is wonky..? We need to invest in a spirit level, n'er mind a centre forrerd.. :confused:

    Well, if we "missed out on the playoffs to Cardiff" we'd have to get promoted part way through this season to be in the same division as them for us to then miss out on the play-offs to them come season end. What with them being in the Championship and us being in League 1.

    If the games kicked off you’ve surely got to finish the game with unequal sized goal posts?

    let’s say team A kicking to the bigger nets are 2 nil up. 2 top corner screamers with 40 mins gone then notice. you can’t then change the goals as in 5 mins time team B are kicking towards the now smaller goal for 45 mins

    It shouldn"t matter , it was the same for both sides with both sides kicking towards & defending the goal for half a game , Footnote ; I was at Oakwell the day the Crewe goalkeeper pulled on the cross bar & brought it down !! Happy days , a bit of a repair job & the game restarted , if my memory serves me well they called the goalkeeper Willy Mailey , can anyone confirm ?
