Which looks incredibly tight when you watch it back. Just tried pausing the Sky highlights of it, and it puts a blurred overlay on, but when the full match replay goes on ifollow, I'll have a better look. But it's another that on first viewing, seemed in line.
But they're incredibly marginal decisions. It's difficult to criticise him for not making his run a fraction of a second later. My point is though, was he even offside? I'm still not convinced his disallowed goal at Fleetwood was off. This one seems slightly less debatable, but I don't think he's benefitting from the attackers advantage.
Imo the ball should have been released quicker as Norwood signalled his intent in plenty of time . Imo we need competition for the position though , he was shying out of tackles in his favour today and in other games as well , he needs competition to bring his game on imo .
Not if he was onside and the linesman got it wrong. When I saw the replay during the game he looked on to me but the angle wasn’t perfect and I didn’t freeze it but I don’t think he got much wrong with that particular run.
You can never accurately tell from these angles, you just can't. So to add my entirely pointless contribution to this: Norwood is clearly ahead of the two centre halves. Is he ahead of the full back? I have no idea, I can't make that judgement from here. Looking forward to some random lines that 'prove' conclusively he's onside though.
From where I was in the top tier it looked offside. I had not complaints at the time from this decision. Was probably the only decision i didn’t complain about all afternoon though, that referee, in my opinion, is one of the worst football league referee’s I’ve ever witnessed. Should be fined and suspended he’s that bad!
I think they called this one right. Ball was released a bit too late. Literally the only decent ball played in to our forward line all match. Think Cole really put a shift in today, with zero service and having to drop back too much. That run he went on, only to end up with what looked a clear free kick waved away was probably the highlight of the game.
Don't get me started. We have a sport, the most watched in this country, one of the biggest in the world, and yet we've different rules depending on the division. In the Premier League, that 'goal' gets video technology treatment. In the divisions below, we go off the officials' opinion. I still can't get my head around that. The FA Cup is the worst competition for it. Because there's VAR in fixtures where the Prem clubs are involved, but not in others. How the **** has this actually occurred? The most pertinent recent example for me, BFC related, was the playoffs against Swansea. We're battling for the Premier League. We lose the first leg at home, 1-0, to a goal that wouldn't have stood in the Premier League. It was offside.
I understand your frustration, and I would like things levelled out too. But I would get rid of VAR and put the decisions back with the officials at all levels of football, I would not bring in VAR further down the football pyramid. I can no longer watch Premier League football. The technology has killed it as a spectacle for me.
Fully agree Jay. I understood the goal-line tech. It's pretty clear-cut. But then again, I'm in the 'get rid of offside' camp, so what do I know.
I thought this was a myth in the first place bud? There's an interview with a recently retired referee what ( If I'm remembering correctly) said it wasn't true. May be remembering wrong and he was on about something else however
He might be smarter than the player providing the assist - i.e., reading the line correctly, running from an onside position and the passing player being a little too slow to spot the run.
Video highlight suggests when he started his run he was onside and a slight delay in playing the ball made him offside. IMO
I'm away this weekend so I've had to do it on my phone. However after in depth analysis here is the 100% proof he was onside and we have been robbed.
