Evening folks. Can anyone recommend a decent driving instructor, Barnsley based? My son turns 17 in December and was planning on booking him a few lessons to get him started. Thank you.
Whilst it's 14 years since I passed my test mate, I'd avoid Local. In the time it took me to pass my test, I had 3 different instructors. The first had to retire to become a carer for his father in law. This was 5 days before my test. Local said they'd be in touch with another instructor. I called them the day before my test as I'd still not heard from them, and they quickly got me another instructor, who I met for the first time on the day of my test. I failed. Then a week before my next test, he called me to say he'd failed some sort of final examination, and therefore couldn't teach me any longer. Local said they'd put me in touch with another instructor. I chased them, and finally they put me in touch with a 3rd one, 2 days before my test; his car was completely different to the other two instructors, so naturally, I failed that test too. In all fairness, Mark who was my 3rd instructor was really good. He was a hard taskmaster. No point recommending him either, as he agreed with me that Local were a waste of space, and he left them shortly after I passed my test. He set up his own business, but retired just after our Ry passed his test. So I can't recommend a good one I'm afraid, but I'd advise against Local.
This is me immediately after I'd passed my driving test. As you can see, it was quite a long time ago. I still had hair in those days!
I got some AA lessons for my nephew a few years ago for his birthday. Just text him to get the name and he thinks he was called Stewart, but isn't sure. I remember him talking very highly of him at the time though. Barnsley fan, too.
Bells Driving tuition. Daz is excellent though I did see him post a while back he's very busy but that has to bee a good thing.
Andy wray driving instructor, my son and his girlfriend both passed 1st.time with him, he's on Facebook
I’ll back this up. Daz got our daughter through her test a few years back and he was great with her. She was struggling nerves wise and he really put her at ease. She ended up passing first time. Got to know him since and he’s a top bloke.
I think people confuse learning to drive with passing their test. Passing the test is the first step on the ladder, I passed my test in !972 and my instructors parting words still echo in my ears. "Well, you've passed your test, now f**k off and learn how to drive."
I`m an ex instructor, when you contact one ask them what grade they are, 6 is the best, 5 is excellent, grade 4 then they need to polish up their teaching. Make sure they are a green license holder, trainee instructors can teach, and get paid their license is pink.
Top boy is Andy and an old workmate of mine, too (from his pre driving instructor days). But I believe he is automatic only which is the future but he wants to learn manually. But thank you for the recommend.
