Collins Cundy Andersen Kitching Williams Connell Kane Larkeche Benson Cole Norwood Subs Edwards Phillips Martin Cadden Walton Aitchison Jalo
Is there anyone in the Club who can go past the opposition other than Thomas? Even if they’re currently in the U23’s or U18’s.
Collins Cundy Andersen Williams (his best position under Struber and last season) Hondermarck Kane Benson Larkeche Butterfill Norwood Cole Subs Walton Kitching Cadden Connell Aitchison Dyer Jalo
Is Williams expected to be back? I've not heard anything about the severity of his injury. As someone says above, his best position for me is on the right of a back 3. And although I don't think he's done bad at wingback this season, there's something not quite right with that back 3 of Mads, Kitching and Cundy. Cundy in particular seems very hesitant, as does Andersen at times. Kitching needs to take the led out of the bottom of his boots.
I'd agree with that stating XI but I doubt Williams will be fit enough to start. Edwards and Cadden were very poor at Morecambe (they weren't alone). Our best midfield 3 need to start together with Benson in a more advanced role to hopefully provide a goal threat because christ, we need one.
We have so many mediocre players in the team.I would play jalo instead any of the two up front. . We are running out of ideas and we don’t have a plan b at all . Williams and Thomas have been a huge loss . The lack of a decent striker is ridiculous
As has been stated before - the late August signings are a great disappointment (and must be to MD too). But I`d add to that Cadden who I thought was going to be a marauding wing-back (don`t want to completely write him off yet and I don`t know if fitness is still an issue with him. A bit divisive I know but I`d be tempted to play Kitching in the left wing-back role who, good or bad, will give 100% to the job!
Kane should play instead of Phillips, who was really poor on Saturday. Aithison also improved things a little when he came on so wouldn't mind him playing too. I think norwood needs to play - nothing was sticking with just Cole up top. Edwards was really poor too, so if anyone else is fit get them in. Collins Edwards Cundy Mads Kitching Cadden Martin Benson Kane Norwood Cole Connell is great but he was poor on Saturday. Martin carries the ball sometimes, which nobody else does, so I think he needs to be in the team.
Was Martin that bad? He didn't stand out to me - maybe because there were so many poor performances. Phillips had a dreadful game.
I don`t know if it`s just me but Martin doesn`t look as if he cares. May have skills but shows no fight.
Fans let him knew what they thought when down the home seating area near to the corner flag he didn't hurry the Morecambe player. He just stood there until the swearing came from our fans telling him to FN get stuck in. Wouldn't be sad to see him sent back. I can take someone simply not being good enough. I can't take a lack of effort though. It's like Chris Dagnall or more recently Victor. Neither were good enough for the league we were playing in, but both always gave 100%.
Loan deals should be cancellable by the receiving club at any time that suits them. Why should they be forced to keep a player who isn't improving the squad? As we have found to our cost, losing Harvey Barnes for example, bigger clubs can reclaim their players. So why shouldn't we be able to say to Norwich this morning "Thanks but take him back. If he isn't bothered about being here we don't want him".
Mostly agree with this. Benson in the more advanced of the 3 has to be worth a go. If Jordan is fit I would like to see him in a 3 for either Cundy or Kitch, who I’m afraid we’re both woeful on Saturday. Edwards at wing back, who wasn’t great either but best of a bad job for me. I don’t think Martin lacks effort, he’s poor defensively but gets back well. There is a difference. I know I shouldn’t judge him on 1 league start but Phillips can’t be anywhere near the 18 on Tuesday. That was horrid. I was stunned he survived half time to be honest.
Phillips was an odd one, given his playing record at other clubs, including Morecambe. Maybe he was affected by playing at an old club in a negative way, although why that should be so I don't know. It's not like he was getting huge abuse from thousands of home fans (only 3,000 of them in the ground). Mind you I wasn't there and you can't really pick up things like that on iFollow, unless it's very loud. He should have been busting a gut though to show them what they are missing now that he is at a bigger club. I'll not write him off though - far too early.
I must admit when we signed him I thought it was a decent signing, when many were underwhelmed. But he’s offered nothing so far. I didn’t hear him get any stick on Saturday, not that it would be an excuse for me. Zero quality I’m afraid. Just aimlessly knocked it forward and lost the ball every time. Not sure where we go with him, sometimes players have bad games but you can see what they potentially have when they settle in. I can’t find one redeeming feature up to now. Really hope he proves me wrong.
Cole and Norwood are more than decent at this level. BUT, if they don't get service in the box, they won't score and it doesn't matter who is up front. If chances aren't created for them, they won't score. We need someone to take over the role that Thomas had and run at defences with the ball. That is the issue for me and there must surely be someone else at the club that is capable of doing this.
Phillips was the signing I was most excited about with us paying a fee and signing him on a decent enough contract. Must be sumat amiss with him. His record is quite decent. I hope he isn't Keith Treacy type signing.
