Lincoln's second visit to Oakwell this season, after the debacle that was the Pizza John's Paint Trophy game. That being said, we had made 11 changes to the starting 11 for that game, and Lincoln had made 7 (if I remember correct) of their own, so expect two fairly different line-ups to that game. Even our substitutes in that game were largely academy players, whereas Lincoln did deploy a few more first team regulars in the second half. Nevertheless, both teams have ultimately progressed to the next round of that particular competition. In the league this season, Lincoln have been reasonably inconsistent on their travels. They've amassed 10 points from 7 games, with 3 wins, 3 defeats and a draw. Their away victories have included a 9 goal thriller with Bristol Rovers, and on their latest trip away from Sincil Bank, a 1-0 win over Ipswich town. They've also drawn away at Portsmouth too, so certainly aren't pushovers. Historically, we haven't met in the league for a long time. The defeat in the EFL Trophy ended a run of 4 games unbeaten at Oakwell vs Lincoln, stretching back to 1979. Although prior to that, we'd failed to win the previous 7 meetings on home soil. Considering our own inconsistent home form, patchy confidence, and Lincoln's ability to take points off the teams generally favoured in this league, I think a low scoring draw might be on the cards. We tend to score early at home, which usually settles the nerves a bit, and I think we're going to have to do the same in this one. I'm going for 1-1 with Cole being cancelled out midway through the second half, to set up a tense finale.
1-0 to the imps. My local team, local customers and neighbours. I'd LOVE us to stuff them ... but can't see it.
Not one for predictions but not sure where a goal is coming from for us at the moment. They sound like a well organised outfit so it’s going to be another tough one.
I really don't know what our next performance or result will be, our form is completely random at the moment, taken a definite downturn since the Thomas injury....
Has to be an upturn in form so why not these next two games? Lincoln will not be easy and they will be full of it after their early thrashing of us in the pizza cup. We should just forget that, and the last few games, and really go for it from the start. 1-0 up inside five minutes and the picture looks very different. I say a 2-1 win for us but hanging on as usual at the end. There will very likely be a couple or three thousand from Lincoln so let's send them home grumpy.
Ive no idea what to expect but hoping for a bounce back after 3 dismal performances 2-0 to the Reds - but I have low confidence
