Genuine question. From what we have, who if picked week in, week out would make things work for us?
    Is it Benson? Kane?

What I’m getting at is that the team, the formation needs to be built around that player. Similar players may have to be dropped.

e.g. when we had Hourihane, there was no room for Berry.

Duff can’t change what he has got, but he needs to make his mind up who he wants to work around because it’s a shambles at the moment.

I don’t know the answer but my feeling is that Benson and Kane are too similar. It’s one, not both. I have no clue what the defence is, but I don’t like 3 across the back, especially with the average wide players.

Make the system work for the strongest players, not the other way round.

Jury very much out for me with Duff - granted he’s not got a great hand to play with.

Kane takes 15 minutes to turn when he receives ball , Benson gone back to the old player we know ( useless ) so neither can make us tick

The problem with Benson, especially tonight, is that he can't be too adventurous 'cos he has to cover for when Kane inevitably messes up.

    Great question Fired!
I’d go with Benson and Connell - it seemed to be working before injuries.
I also think we’ll look better when Jordan Williams is back.

Thought Kane did ok first half. Thought Benson was
anonymous. But I think I’d prefer Connell plus one of them.

One thing for sure, I know a lot of people don't particularly rate J. Williams highly, but it definitely makes me appreciate how much better a team we are with him in it - especially when Edwards is the alternative.

Luca Connelly by a country mile. Problem is if he plays badly he's scapegoated and dropped. If Duff's favourites play badly they're given the motm and a quick handy roubd the back of the west stand

We're missing Thomas and as some one said earlier, we miss Williams pace att the back (can't believe I'm saying that)

It doesn't matter what we've got available, Duff just plays the same system. It's the same thing week in, week out. We could sign 10 new players in January and it would be exactly the same. He'd try to fit them into this formation of fear. He ensures that our players are scared of the opposition. We play three centre backs and we try to stop the opposition playing. You could give him Glavin, Hignett, Hourihane and Redfearn and he'd instruct them to sit back and protect his three centre halves.

I thought Kane was much better than Benson tonight but I'd happily swap them both for Bassi and build our team around him if it was possible.

I knew we would miss Thomas, but not as much as we have. He was the link between defence and attack for most of our successful games. We needed to replace him from within but we haven't. Neither Kane or Benson make us tick and I'd be loathed to pick either. We have also missed Williams who was also crucial in a similar way to Thomas. Just goes to show how thin our squad is. Are our forwards starved of good service, or is it their ineptness that is thwarting the midfield?

I thought Martin was brought in to make things happen going forwards but he's looked lightweight and doesn't seem to fully commit to beating the man, goes so far then passes sideways
