I love Halloween. Used to think it was American nonsense but it's just a great bit of escapism and scaring folk in a friendly way! Starting doing parties 7 years back and it's like an addiction now trying to make them more impressive year on year! This was this year's:
True story ...early eighties im about 25 years old never looked my actual age always looked a lot younger and its halloween night ... a knock came on our front door ..on answering there's two young lads ones about 7/8ish the other his little brother about 4/5 ish both dressed as skeletons ...trick or treat I'm greeted with ...being the comedian iam I said trick ...which puzzled them both the little one looked at his brother who held his gaze for what seemed an age before turning back to me and saying show us one then....I replied no lads you are supposed to play a trick on me...to which they both turned to each other again held each others gaze again both with puzzled looks on their faces, before the eldest turned to me and said...I think you'll find things have changed a lot since you were a lad mister....pmsl gave them both 50p each for their cheek and response ...i .didn't live that one down for months with the wife although I did get my own back on her some months later .... when I took the dog for a walk I'd usually stop and have a kick about with the kids in the park (they were aged between 8 and 10 year old ) which soon became a regular thing one day their ball burst so the following day I went and bought them another ....now knowing a couple of the kids parents they thanked me and were quite happy that I was saving them a job of looking after the kids ..because a couple of their parents knew where I lived they must have told the kids whereabouts our house was, because the kids started knocking on the door asking for me to go and play football with them on a regular basis ..often they would ask the wife too ...can your Bryan come out to play football which was comical in its self On one particular day the knock came at the door and and glancing out of the window there was about eight or nine of them stood there at the gate whilst one came and knocked on the door ...on opening the door the wife was met with...Can your Bryan come out to play ...now because I was busy doing some DIY the wife replied no I'm sorry love, he can't come out today hes busy doing some work in the house ..to which the young lad turned to his mates and shouted at the top of his vice "His Mum" says he can't come out today because he's doing some homework She didn't live that one down for years i can tell you...lol
Don't mind Halloween. All good fun, kids love it. Though, we got a few older lads last night (at least 16/17) knocking on the door and taking the p!ss a bit. Loads of a folk in the pub over the weekend telling ghost stories. Surprising how many people claim to have seen a ghost.
Mate of mine once claimed he saw Derek Riordan wafting through the corridor’s of Oakwell, claims it’s a true story
