    Looks similar to where Outpost stands now.

    No 7 for 3 or 4 pints, then White Hart, Corner Pin, Chennels, then back to No 7 to complete the ten pinter. Didn't go on to any of the late clubs as I had to get up for school next day.

    Mine used to be Saturday nights rather than Friday. If I wasn't heading to Sheffield with my old mucker Steve Harker I'd do the rounds of the Barnsley town centre pubs but in no particular order. Walked a couple of times back to Elsecar from tarn too. Couple of times caught the bus to Wombwell if I missed the last bus to Elsecar and asked my brother in law Roy to give me a lift
    If I was really daft used to get off the bus and go in the Birdcage at Hoyland. Now that place WAS interesting

    We used to get the late train back from Sheffield there was a lad called Billy Bacon ( don’t know if that was his real name ) who used to do acrobatics with the seat poles usually with his trousers down who got off at Elsecar , always trying to persuade people to go to the Birdcage

    I remember Billy well and he was just one of the characters at the Birdcage. Remember a few fights outside the Birdcage too, very few inside as no one messed with Dennis

    Ran the gauntlet at the Birdcage on a couple of occasions and thought "sod it".
    Anyone remember folk turning out at the Redbrook?

    Never went to tarn in 70's. (No real reason) Just that Hoyland/Elsecar in the day was full of pubs, clubs. And The birdcage. And a shortish walk.
    If we weren't running the Gauntlet ( being jumpers). It was a great place to go out. Sadly not the place it was. Wombwell beats it hands down for venues now.
    Platts common wasn't a bad little run in those days as a teen 15+. Pheasant was a great disco venue.

    When me n mrs hooked up. We frequented Birdcage Saturdays and Sundays (half price drinks night if I remember rightly) Jesters nightclub Fridays. (Mexborough where I met the future and present missus who lived there. We were 17 at the time.She needs a medal.) We used to sit upstairs in the Jesters, Watching the mayhem downstairs on most occasions. Tables and chairs spent more time flying through the air than on the floor. Like watching old western bar brawls lol.

    Good old days. :confused::)
    Funny tale (not at the time mind)
    Jesters nightclub. mini bus load on us on mi mates bachelor do. Waiting to go home. Mate at front of queue at burger van. This local scroat goes in front of him. Mate sez. " scuze me pal there's a queue."
    Reply " eff off, what tha going to do abart it."
    Me knowing what the reply is going to be, thinking, Shunt av said that pal. My mate lost his rag eventually and thumped him (only took one punch to put him on his back) Locals started coming over. We legged it, and thankfully the minibus came towards us and we managed to jump in and escape.:)
