Just 540 minutes away from Wembley.

We visit what is now named the University of Bolton Stadium for round 1, and the second time this season.

Relatively speaking, we haven't played Bolton loads in our history (43 times). We have never won at the their current stadium, and our last victory at their old ground was 11 visits ago, a 3-2 win on the final day of the 93/94 season. We've only won away at Bolton 3 times in our history, the first of which was during our cup run of 1912. It's certainly one of many bogey grounds we have.

No idea what sort of team either of us will put out. Likely to be a strong one with the break coming up. Play like we did last Saturday in the second half, and we'll cause them some problems.

I'm going for 1-2 with Williams and Benson on the scoresheet.

    You reds!!

I’ll go 3-0 and that will be unfortunate as we’ll then have to ‘concentrate on the League.’

I hope we go with our strongest side because a cup run is the main hope of igniting what looks like being a pretty crappy league season.

    What break is this?

We play Shrewsbury a week later, MK a week after that. If we beat Bolton, we'll play on the 26th in round two.

We've Pompey to play too, rearranged, and depending on FA Cup results.

    And, Papa John's.

I'd love to be able to tell you when that is. But it's such a joke competition that they can't tell us. There's apparently one fixture left to play. It involves Man City's U21s who couldn't play this week because Man City had a Champions League game. Genuinely. They've held up a tournament purely for Man City. Absolute farce of a competition.

That isn't to say I don't care. I hope we win every game we play. But it's an example of where we are in football.

But yeah, we 'could' have a Papa John's game this month too. But who knows?

Play like we did in the first and we'll lose half the crowd to malignant narcolepsy.

We are 8th in the league in a season where before a ball was kicked most were predicting mid table at best , I do not think we have had a crappy league season so far & hopefully we will continue to be there or there abouts , a cup run would help our finances & hopefully add to the squad in january for a play off push , that would make for a decent season . Prediction for saturday is a 1 v 0 win for the reds .

I didn't realise the 2nd round was the 26th November. I thought that was just a free week due to the start of the world cup, as the 2nd round is usually played early December. I thought I'd heard/read that anyway.

    I can't see past 0-0.

Can't see the players being up for this at all. Drab goalless draw and lose on penalties.

I'd love us to win it. I'll be in Beadnell Bay with the 3 dogs I borrow. I'm not going to ruin my trip by watching the game, but there undoubtedly will be some furtive checks of the score if I can get 4 / 5 G on the beach in blizzard conditions. I think we'll field a fairly strong team, but I would not blame Duff for not risking Williams & one or two others.
