Chances are we’ll play India …. you’d expect them to beat Zimbabwe unless someone crocks Kohli ! Only joking but he’s not Mr Personality like our Joe or Stokesy. One of best cricketers ever though
made hard work of that without really looking in danger after their 7th over, looking like india on thurs in adelaide stokes played well today, exactly the type of game for him to guide us home
Sydney Morning Herald have plenty to say, I wonder why End of an era for Australia. I can see quite a few of the older lot retiring from international T20 Cricket like Finch, Maxwell and maybe a few more like Warner. https://www.smh.com.au/sport/cricke...ricket-are-missing-point-20221105-p5bvtu.html https://www.smh.com.au/sport/cricke...tering-world-cup-defence-20221105-p5bvrz.html https://www.smh.com.au/sport/cricke...side-after-t20-world-cup-20221105-p5bvtz.html https://www.smh.com.au/sport/cricke...ases-t20-world-cup-glory-20221105-p5bvva.html https://www.smh.com.au/sport/cricke...ut-of-twenty20-world-cup-20221105-p5bvuq.html

Pakistan were unlucky losing to India and Zimbabwe off the last ball. I would extend the WC so they have quarter finals. It would mean teams have more chance of qualifying if rain spoils games. Teams can qualify more comfortably than because of NRR. Also it makes winning the tournament more special as you have to win an extra knockout game.
It dies seem a bit sudden @dreamboy3000 , semia then final. Having said that, we get to see more of all the teams that qualify this time. Been some excellent catching again this morning.
You’d more than likely get dead rubber games with a couple of sides already qualified after 3 or 4 games. Or, do you mean having 4x4 groups with 2 to go through from each group ?
In my view it should be 2 groups of 8. The super 12 has been anything but super. The lower ranked sides have done themselves justice with a few upsets. And deserve to get more games to improve. Top 4 qualify for quarters and so on. It doesnt need so long between games in my view. So they could still fit it in within the timescale set.
If they kept the same two groups as now it could have been over next Sunday still with a match per day next week. There is no need for us to have five days between matches in the shortest international format. So based on 1st vs 4th and 2nd vs 3rd with the league winners with the best NRR getting to have the first match it would be.... Monday: New Zealand vs Netherlands (unless Zimbabwe win the current match). Tuesday: India (assuming the beat Zimbabwe) vs Sri Lanka. Wednesday: Pakistan (best NRR of second place teams) vs Australia. Thursday: England vs South Africa. Friday: Monday winner vs Tuesday winner. Saturday: Wednesday winner vs Thursday winner. Sunday: Final. Less chance of someone complaining they went out because of the weather and going out on NRR is rather harsh even if it is Australia.
Makes better sense to me for there to be more games played but more potential injuries would mean bigger squads needed. I don’t recall any previous tournaments being as badly rain affected so I think this Super 12 system isn’t that bad. The only maybe would be to review the NRR calculation to include number of wickets. The Duckworth Lewis thing does !
what about travel time? may be ok in england but it's not that easy there unless it's set in 1 state, perth to brisbane is over 4hr flight
Forgot til now that we’ve got 3 ODI’s against Australia after winning World Cup ! First one is Thursday and start time is 3.20 am unfortunately
Hopefully we can win it. Wonder how much interest the aussie public will show? Aussie press and former players have been very critical of their performances, even the games they won and suggested they should have made more effort to increase NRR. Finch has been criticised for saying they were suffering from fatigue before the tournament began. A few former players not happy with the way Justin Langer was forced out. Pat Cummings, Aaron finch, Tim Payne, accused of being disruptive and undermining Langer.
I'd get rid of the first group phase and qualification for the super sixers or 12's in all formats and have everybody play each other once and the top four go into the semi-finals. If you aren't good enough after playing everybody at least once you don't deserve to progress.
