6 places and just 2 points separate us and the shrews this season so far. Shrewsbury were my dark horse pick for the season, and are just off the pace at the minute, sitting 5 points off the play-offs. We're currently the underdogs with the bookies going into this one, despite our decent away form (Morecambe aside). That said, Shrewsbury had won 3 straight home games prior to their defeat against Charlton last time at Greenhous Meadow. Overall though, it's the 16th best home side vs the 7th best away side. Whilst our head to head record against Shrewsbury is favourable (20 wins, 9 draws, 13 defeats), the majority of our victories have occurred at Oakwell. We've won on just 5 occasions at Shrewsbury in 21 visits (drawn 5 lost 11). Even Daniel Stendel's all conquering side of 2018/19 succumbed to a 3-1 defeat at the Meadow. Our last victory in Shropshire came in 2016, courtesy of a Sam Winnall brace and Alfie Mawson rebounded strike. I fancy us to sneak this one. Two teams who struggle for goals. I'm going for 0-1 with Cole on the score sheet.
2-1 us, Cole and Tedic, then they score in last 10 mins (not including 7 minutes added time) for squeaky bum time.
Was listening to the NTT20 betting podcast and they stated that Shrewsbury rely a lot on set piece goals (8 from 17 goals), We've only conceded a couple via that route and they went for a low scoring Barnsley win which I tend to agree with.
Fancy us to sneak this 0 - 1, 1 - 2. As an aside, perusing tomorrow's fixtures to see how to lose money, I noticed all S. Yorks teams are playing away from home, can't remember this ever happening.
Can I wait and tell you after we know who scores first as they will probably win 2-0 defeat is my fear ( though if we did score first we will win 2-1)
