The new Neil Redfearn? Box-to-box player. Scores. Takes a mean penalty. Could be the next Neil. Let's hope so.
Long way to go Thought he was good first half faded badly second half but let’s see he hasn’t had a lot of game time and is improving
Nowhere near Redders at this moment in time. Hasn’t done enough for me since his arrival and needs to impose himself more in games.
It’s confusing me this one! He’s never been a footballer, his control, passing etc is embarrassingly bad. BUT……. his goals have won us our last 2 games. If he keeps scoring important goals then he’s got to play hasn’t he??
To be honest I don't get this" never been a footballer" line. How many times have you seen him play? Time and again players are written off after a few matches and prove to be good players once they've settled in. His stats before joining us seemed to show he could hold down a place in the lower leagues and score a good few goals from midfield. With our low goal output from the strikeforce he'd seem to be exactly what we need.
After seeing him a few times, I wasn’t sure what kind of midfielder he was, as he didn’t really show anything. I guess after the last 2 games we’ve seen that it could well be a goal scoring one. I think he got a decent amount last season in this division too? Popping up with goals is certainly a good talent to have and let’s hope it continues.
I’ve seen enough of him to know he can’t control or pass a football very well. If he keeps scoring and we keep winning then I’m delighted, trust me!
Agree Helen. And he's scored plenty over the years as a midfielder, and at 16/17 years old hailed at Liverpool as having a very bright future... But yeah, let's write him off after about 300 minutes of league football for us...
While any comparison with Redfearn is clearly excessive at this stage, I can definitely see a player in there. My forecast is that he'll become a key player for us at this level, and will probably look comfortable in the Championship once we get back there.
Right now it’s looking like a choice of Phillips or Benson. Genuine question - who do you think can contribute more?
