I agree with you about the World Cup all this complaining from footballers etc but they've all still gone,so they can't be that bothered.

Bit simplistic when its their job
I have had to travel to countries I am not overly happy about visiting for work and if I had to travel to Qatar on business I would do so if requested by my company. If I was a professional footballer and selected by England I'd go but no way would I go as a fan or go and act as an ambassador like Becham has done

I have heard the same suggestion multiple times that a incident on the roads involving a foreigner and a local will always result in the foreigner being blamed, even when the facts of the matter, such as a rear end shunt by the local, suggesting that can't be the case. So don't think things have changed much at all since you were there.

Any foreigner driving over there, If involved in an incident with an Emirati, would do well to just get their chequebook out and offer to pay the guy for the inconvenience you caused by being in front of him when he didn't want to stop.
