If the English electorate keep voting in Conservative Government's I'm not sure it's 'right' that they should have to rely on the voters of another Country to try to circumvent that. That electoral will should prevail.

As my Sevco friends would say WATP - which I think stands for 'We Aren't Tax Payers' ....or something like that.

Scottish rabid no clue Independence Party will end up losing half their seats at the next election if they fight it on a single issue.

So instead of being ruled by Westminster you'd rather be ruled by Brussels?

    Independent Scotland.

No army or defence unless the UK decide to sell em a few old things.

    No currency.

No real economy other than whiskey and a smattering of tourism. (Oil fields, thing of the past).

    No banking reserves

Hard border between them and the UK

    Bankrupt from the divorce bill.

    Good luck with that.

    Wait a minute...

You still can't see that Brexit was a bad idea, but you can post the above?

    Words fail me.

Uk has an economy, currency, bank reserves and the basic things to build on, Scotland doesn't and couldn't support itself any better than say Yorkshire alone. Massive difference, can't get my words if you don't see those.

    Words fail me.

The Scottish devolved Govt agreements were from 1999, at that time there was no mechanism for a Member State to leave the EU...until Article 50 came into force in 2009.
Greenland did leave in 1984 after a bespoke agreement...Greenland having voted against joining the EU in 1972.

I don't think South Africa declared UDI Ian...I think you're thinking of Ian Smith's Rhodesia.

We live in a globalised world, no one has an economy in isolation, not even mighty England, as people are slowly realising.

There is no reason Scotland couldn't flourish under the EU like its neighbours in Ireland and Scandinavia have. They have an educated workforce, a strong tourism sector, mineral wealth etc.

I am against Scotland leaving as itvwould cause economic pain, at least in the short term as some of the issues you raise play out. But you can understand why it's a popular thought at the moment with the country's hopes being blunted by poor governance in Westminster and decisions that they voted overwhelmingly against, like Brexit, foisted on them.

You make a valid point but how did for example Latvia Lithuania and Estonia cope when they left the Soviet Union I imagine they faced similar issues and seem to have survived and prospered.

For what its worth I think Scotland is better as part of the UK in the same way I think the UK was better with a close alliance with Europe but what I think is almost irrelevant

Those Eastern European Nations mentioned above have no security though. Look at Ukraine. They're one mad man or tyrant away from oblivion. I'm not just talking about Putin here.

A lot of the problems start with someone coming into power the people don't like or a military coo. Or they just get a ******* like Milosevic, Gadaffi or Pinochet (excuse the spelling).

I personally would let any country from the union who wanted to leave be allowed to leave & the same with the Commonwealth , I believe that independence should be allowed for all & that is not a political point it is just my personal view .

I agree. Let them go. They've come back with their tails between their legs before. Should we accept them with open arms or have a referendum if this happens again?
