Reason my Brother wouldn’t take his 7 year old daughter yesterday even though the price was low, don’t think a day at football is suitable for younger children anymore ,or we just never worried about the chants and vitriol back in the day

There is absolutely no way it is less appropriate for a seven year old now than it was ten, twenty or thirty years ago.

The chants heard and language used can still be questionable but not as it was in years gone by in my view.

There isn’t an old fella sat either side of you smoking a roll up and blowing it in your face either.

Kids will hear things at the football - but not as much now as in years past. And we do have a dedicated family enclosure - one I attend with my kids. One of them is 15 now so no massive need for him but Evie has just turned 8.

Definitely would be the latter, the nature of chants at games used to be worse if anything.

Like a league match earlier in the season, I simply think it's because they didn't do it pre match as is normal

You probably weren't the guy sat 4 seats down the aisle from me then. Don't think he woke up at all. Probably still there.

Neither are any religious belief really especially church of England only got set up because Henry the 8th wanted more wives. Or the whole of england would still be catholic.

You're right there. I was a kid when we played Bradford City and Rotherham quite regularly. There were battles outside the ground with bricks thrown and chants like "You're gonna get your f cking head kicked in" . It's pretty mild these days.

You can't protect children from bad language all the time sadly as they can here it at school or even in the streets.

The length of time that it has been chanted doesn't make it any more or less offensive. I'm not sure what was being chanted, but I'm just going to point that out.

Agreed. Much worse and more personal things are directed at players.

I didn't realise Crewe vs Barnsley was a hotbed of sectarianism. Can someone let me know which side we are on so I can wear the right attire next time? Do I dust off my orange order outfit or my pope cassock?

the Catholic Church has been responsible for some of the worst atrocities in humanity. the popes preside over that. just because he may not have personally done something, doesn't absolve him.

I mean covering up child rape is fairly bad. Also going to Africa the continent worse hit by Aids and telling people not to wear condoms was a low point. Though I do believe that was the last pope.

The catholic religion is one of the biggest in the world south america, italy, ireland all the main religion. If Henry the 8th hadnt wanted more wives the C.O.E wouldnt have been setup. What happened in ireland between Catholics and protestants was nothing to do with the pope.
