https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-63792408 The gap is most definitely narrowing. Only a matter of time before there's an atheist majority.
Unless there's something else we're all on borrowed time. Eventually the sun will swallow up our solar system.
Well technically that won't happen. We are gradually moving away from the sun, as it's power slowly lessens, the gravitational pull is lessened and will happen over the next 7 billion years. At around 8 billion years... What will happen is that the suns remaining core will increase and engulf us with protons and plasma. Or summat like that. But either way, God has only been around for around 40,000 years... He has another 7ish billion years of borrowed time
Not sure i think there will be a muslim majority they all seem still into it. I see Mosques packed regularly unlike churches in england. I also touched on it the other day the church of England only came about 400 years ago because the then king wanted some more wives. I can definitely see muslim been the most popular religion soon in the u.k
Don't worry. "They" are not invading. up by under 2% in the last 10 years. No religion up by 12%. Christianity down by 13%.
I don't see how wanting more wives is any more arbitrary an origin for a religion than any other. At least it's honest, and without it we might have no rights to abortion or contraception. So good on him, the tubby shagger. I don't follow any religion but I don't understand how one Christian can get sneery about the credibility of another strand when at the end of the day you're both following a centuries old book that talks some proper nutty stuff.
At a guess, I'd say Mosque's are busier than church's because there's considerably fewer Mosque's in the UK. Honestly, I couldn't tell you whether there's a Mosque in Barnsley, but there's 3 churches in Cudworth alone. I do think that the number of people who claim to be Christian, and the number of people who actually practice Christianity will be very different. I've often said that I'm a Christian when asked what my religion is, however I haven't stepped foot in a church for anything other than a Wedding, Christening or Funeral for about 15 years. I reckon there's quite a number of people who have a similar relationship with religion as I do. I do think there is a greater proportion of people who claim to be Muslim and actually follow the teachings of Islam, than there is Christians and Christianity. Certainly nowadays anyway.
Also Mosques tend to have one service on a Friday, in Wakefield for example, there are 2 maybe 3 mosques. Churches often have a service on a Saturday night and 2 on a Sunday to choose from and there must be 50 Churches in Wakefield. From my, admittedly limited, Muslim friends and the like I wouldn't say that many go to the Mosque every week - in fact the latest census says 3% of Wakefield population is Muslim, that's 3% of 330k which is like 10k - if they all turned up at the 2 mosques on Friday there'd be one hell of a queue.
