I liked football before VAR. I like football games that do not have VAR. Games with VAR are just antiseptic, pedestrian nonsense. Get rid of VAR.
Only one??? Banning substitutions after 88 minutes of normal time to stop teams running the clock down. One thing I have noticed in this WC is that whilst added time rule has been amended to reflect the time lost through injuries/ substitutions / goal celebrations etc. those same things in actual added time do not seem to be taken into account in the same way. Seen a few matches where, say, 6 minutes added time was displayed and the ref blew on 6 minutes even when there had been an injury, goal scored, subs made or time wasting. Apparently each goal scored should result in 90 seconds being added (the average time for goal celebrations apparently) so 6 minutes plus goal scored in added time should have resulted in 7.5 minutes added in total.
To make the game very exciting, play with two footballs on the pitch at the same time. It would certainly make all the players run around alot more. When a goal is scored just take a goal kick.
Agreed' this new offside ruling where the lino only flags when the player touches the ball is crazy' whats it even meant to do?' One things for sure' a forward or a keeper is going to end up breaking a leg' its plain barmy. Oh and players talking behing their hands' whats all that about?
Ban towels from being used for throw ins & introduce a 5 second time limit taking the throw , if not taken within the 5 seconds then the ball is given to the opposition to take the throw , also complete a line across the edge of the box to the full width of the pitch & introduce that you can only be given offside beyond that line , therefore effectively only in the last 18 yards of the pitch.
It's there purely as a result of VAR. The best but not only example of the rules being bent (and I use the word advisedly) purely to suit the needs of a system that is slowly but surely ruining the game.
