Senegal progressed to the second round with 2 wins and a defeat in their group. They gave a good account of themselves when falling to Netherlands in the first game, before brushing Qatar aside, and reacting well to an Ecuador equaliser to secure passage to the 2nd round for the first time since 2002. On the build up to the tournament, Senegal drew with Iran, and beat Bolivia. They did qualify for the African Nations Championship, defeating Liberia (albeit losing the 2nd leg) and Guinea (this time drawing the second leg). They also competed in the Cosafa Cup, where they were disappointedly beaten in the Semi-finals, despite being clear tournament favourites, losing to Zambia (then beating Mozambique to finish 3rd). England and Senegal have never faced each other before. Senegal are going to be without Nottingham Forest's Cheikhou Kouyate (injured), Everton's Idrissa Gueye (suspended) and of course Bayern Munich's Sadio Mane, who was left out of the squad due to requiring knee surgery. The key to an England victory is an early goal. If that happens, I can see us winning this one comfortably. I'm going for 3-0 England.
Were lucky they're missing some good players. I reckon we'll win but not as comfortable as a lot of people think unless we play some attacking, fluid football that we know we can do. If we play the usual turgid Southgate way, probably 1, maybe 2-0
