Oops, his replacement scores a second. Might be time for him to invest in a comfy cushion for the bench...

They don’t seem to be missing him. Might even give Spain a shock, at this rate. Oh, hang on..

Swiss defender reminds me of Barnsley last season - everyone running towards the goal while the opposition players smashes past the keeper one-on-one, is our old manager helping out in Switzerland???

So Schweisse are going home, they clearly can't handle Portugal in this form tonight.
I would have preferred a Portugal v Spain derby match in the Qtrs, but ne'er mind. ;)

I think there's little doubt England and Portugal have had the 'easier' run ins I'd say. Be interesting when we meet... hopefully!

It reminds me of the Qtrs 4 years ago, when you could say we had a lucky draw then, and we easily beat Sweden.
Ok then, are France more than just a one man team, well we're going to find out aren't we!.

There’s some hate on here for a player that as done nothing but wonders in the footballing world. Probably due to the vast amounts of money he has I suppose !

I think that's the one thing you can't accuse Ronaldo of. It could be because he's wealthy anyway, but it always seems he'd pick footballing personal honours & awards over money

I’ve no issue with him at all . I think he’s better than messi due to the teams he’s done it with. His money is deserved

No footballer should 'earn' that amount of wealth. It's preposterous. But that's just where we are and it's a moral argument. Not a patch on Messi for me. Messi's a better crosser, passer, dribbler, free kick taker, flair, composure, works a lot harder too as seen in this world cup. Ronaldo is a much better penalty taker & header of the ball though (I assume a large reason for that is the difference in their physique lol). I think Ronaldo was a better striker of the ball until recently too. But even the numbers back Messi whilst both in their prime, the lad has nearly 1200 goals + assists & is 2 years younger than Ronaldo. He ripped Real Madrid apart & he's ripped plenty of English 'big' clubs apart too. Be a sad, sad day when they both retire. I think they're both morally bankrupt though, Messi with taxes (even though loads of footballers use 'loopholes') and I didn't like that he blamed his dad, and obviously Ronaldo with r*pe/sexual assault problems.

But, aside from the actual statistics, that's just my opinion, and because Ronaldo v Messi debates go on for moons & moons I'll not mention/reply anymore :D:p
