Only just read this thread - its simple - I want both to win and it doesnt work that one precludes the other if I had to chose I would want to know what happens in the next games. If England were to go on and win the world cup and we still got promoted despite failing at Oxford Id go for the England win, but if its Barnsley win and gain promotion Barnsley lose and stay in L1 then its a different question and Id pick promotion every time Ultimately its Club over country every time but if just one game made the difference to a World cup win I wouldnt be devastated by an Oxford defeat
Don’t try and kid us. You and the whole of Scotland know exactly the time and date when we’re playing, you’ll all be watching. Then you’ll be cheering on the Portuguese on Wednesday, then the South Americans on Sunday. For what it’s worth, given the choice of the original post. My vote would be with England.
Games like Oxford come round once a week. And nobody will remember the game in a fortnight's time. And there's nothing riding on it. Games like France come round once every 4 years at best. And everyone will remember the game for a while. And possibly for ever if it's part of a journey to the unthinkable. Not much of a choice for me.
I'm going Barnsley. I like this Engkand team though, and it would be something to see John Stones lift the trophy.
England. Barnsley come before England for me but, realistically, the Reds aren’t going to win any trophy of substance in my lifetime. Having been born post-66, I am running out of World Cups to watch and win. It would be nice to see either team win summat before I turn my toes up.
Well ah remember 1966 and winning the world Cup....Obviously ah remember The Reds various promotions...the most emotional of any the them was Barnsley going to the Premier league...but would put England beating France in front of us beating Oxford...
