Probably. They had anti frost covers on the pitch which I'd guess work better at -2 than they do at -5

Beautiful sunny, crisp day - wasted. Had been looking forward to a new ground, a wonderful city and some grand old pubs. I know I'm being irrational but I need this sort of stuff to keep me sane and have something to look forward to every now and again - I expected it to be off given Oxford's lack of infrastructure to deal with the cold, but it's still knocked me. Feel utterly fed up.

We'll have about 73 games in hand if it stays cold and the cup run continues. Hope we're not this year's Sunderland.....

Well, that's sorted the club v country dilemma.
Spoilt whingers make me laugh. It's always be decided on morning of match, for the same reasons they're saying it should have been called yesterday. Maybe if you consumed more fuel, dead animals & disposable electronics, we could warm the planet even faster.?
Of course they won't remember helping clear the pitch at Oakwell to get a match on. Having never seen proper snow. Jeezus..

I'm DJing an outdoor festival. If you hear no more from me take it I've frozen to death. They have a break for the match with a giant projector... it's my job to get the sound sorted for that & some live acts too. Going to be an interesting day. All the punters are dressed as elves, but I'll have me big coit on thankfully. Maybe a glass or two of mulled cider will keep me going.

Surprised more games haven't been called off TBH...

that would be because a lot of us have watched some great games in conditions a lot worse than today would have presented.
    Also played on a few

Philosophical about it personally, bad weather happens unfortunately and there's little anyone could have done given the facilities in play. We'd started the London leg of the train journey but not the Oxford one so it'll just be a longer day out in London for us before the England game and then train home.

On the plus side, it helps us with our injury situation if we can get Duff the new recruits he needs towards the beginning of the transfer window and it has been an absolute pleasure watching this sublime Harry Brook innings from the warmth of the pub!

Didn`t know that. Bloody Southerners coming up here and taking our Bandstands.

That lead roof went missing once or twice as I recall.

True but which weather forecast were they looking at my cousin who was coming with me texted last night to tell me he expected the game to be off due to the overnight forecast He might have inside info as he lives near to Oxford and his parents and sister are actually in Oxford
I expected it to be off as well but was hoping not.
I suppose had it been warmer than expected though there would have been unhappiness it was off when it could have been played

I’m just pleased they called it off at 9:30 and not at 12 or even half time

Yes but I think that was because it was broken. I remember a game being called off at Preston less than an hour before Kick off though with a pitch in perfect condition but there was ice and snow in the surrounding streets which was a ridiculous decision so close to kick off

We was told it had been on Mmm, and as for the Preston game on Boxing Day they should have been fined for that calling it off at such late notice.

I think it was on but wasn’t working properly which is why part of the pitch didn’t defrost
