Very successful record with tournaments (ok yet to win anything) but first time in my lifetime we have a galvanized squad. No egos, all in it together. Yes... likes to leave the handbrake on but no one else id like to lead the 3 lions. He stays for me.
We have the players and we have the ability. Don't stifle em. Go at it from the start of games and not halfway through. I'd rather go down fighting than bore us to death with negativity. I'm not sure who fits that bill given how the game is played today.
We do have the players. There were spells last night where France were in disarray as we attacked them. More of that please rather than the safe space of Stones and Maguire swapping passes across the centre circle.
I commented during the match about the difference between us and France in posession' France were straight on the front foot at every opportunity whilst we played the typical England way' centre back to centre back to centre midfield to centre back. I would love to see the young talent we have given the freedom to express themselves' the talent is definitely there..
The so called top teams in this tournament have`nt really shown us what they are about until going 1 down, early goal and lets keep possession until that becomes undone then back to showing us something decent to watch. Scared of losing tactics spoilt what could have been a great end to end game between 2 capable teams last night. Going to ground for nothing and pestering the ref every 5 mins to review the decision seems to take up a good percentage of the game, like petulant schoolkids at times, really great role models these fellas. Football as a quality spectator sport is dying a death IMO.

I think the main questionable part of Southgate’s management is not his ability to get us to tournaments or even do well in them it’s when we get to the crux games his tactics are lacking , putting Grealish on for a minute last night was criminal. The FA will want home to stay , I think he’ll give it one more campaign

It isn't original target, he signed it pre-world cup. A lot of folk was surprised by that, as many, including myself, would have rather seen how he performed at this world cup and whether we would get knocked out again first time we play a half decent team. As long as he stays positive, as it seems he was trying to do this world cup, then thats fair enough for me Give him Euros if players are up for it and want to make it work
I think he’s been superb & deserves to keep the job. I don’t subscribe to the view that 2018 was poor from us. I think people talk as if it was the same group of players as we have now when it was far, far weaker. Belgium at the time had a far better side than us. Croatia didn’t have a better side than us but there wasn’t a lot in it & what they did have was a far better midfield than us. That tournament Henderson played as the defensive midfielder which isn’t his natural game alongside Lingard & Alli. Ashley Young played left wing back. The squad depth was nothing like what it is now. I don’t think there’s a lot to criticise about the Euro’s last year & this World Cup. Fine margins. Pretty much everyone agreed with the starting line up from the past 2 games. The players he’s got stick for starting in the past - Mount & Sterling were on the bench. We’ve lost to the best team on the planet in my opinion. I think they’ll win the World Cup again. I think we’ve been the second best team at this tournament & were unlucky to play the best in the quarters. That could’ve easily been the final if we were in oppositions halves of the draw. I think there’s still a lot of hope for the next two tournaments. I think there’s only Walker & Trippier who won’t be around & we’ve got excellent right backs in Trent & James to replace them.
