Apologies if already mentioned elsewhere but I notice Markus Schopp has recently got his first job since leaving us. He's gone back to where he came from! TSV Hartberg who he left to come to Oakwell are firmly rooted to the bottom of the Austrian Bundesliga. Markus Schopp's comeback in Hartberg | TSV Hartberg (tsv-hartberg-fussball.at) "I will contribute to this task all my experience, which I have gained especially during my short but very intensive time in England."
my goodness, one of the worst head coaches if not the worst head coach in our history. No charisma, no discipline, no structure, no development, no motivation, basically no ******* idea what he's doing! Are they the equivalent of a village team because that's about his level. In fact they may be too good for him!
Actually, they kinda were! They even had to apply for a license when he got them promoted to top division. And then he got them into 4th(iirc?) and got them into Europe - only 2 years after their first ever promotion into top division. He was terrible for us, no doubt. No charisma at all. But the job he did for Hartberg was excellent. But I think that's definitely his level...
I would probably have him as our worst coach ever. I can't remember someone being in charge of us that I wanted sacked as early as the 9th league game like I did him away at Blackpool. We got good times from Keith Hill. Morais almost kept us in the Championship. Asbaghi was shocking but would be a close second.
No I’d gabs Schopp below Morais. And Morais and Poya level as 2nd worst. And I remember Parkin and Hodges
He’s probably not like, but i don’t remember ever shouting for a manager to be sacked apart from this guy. It was painful to watch week in week out. The owners took way too long to react too and it ended with a lot of fans feeling sympathetic towards the bloke. Should’ve been put out of his misery months before. He was truly dreadful.
Morais was the best of those 3, gone on to manage and win the K-league, ok it’s not a top league but it’s more then the other 2 clowns will ever achieve that’s for sure.
I'm purely basing it on their time with us bud. I really, really didn't like Morais. However, the fact I didn't warm to Morais as a person maybe clouding my judgement a little!
As bad as Morais was. If he'd had the job a month longer we'd have stayed up. Asbaghi could have done something with a better squad. Very organised. Too organised to play at times. Schopp, Parkin and Spackman for me.
Regarding Parkin, I remember his first game at home to Wimbledon. Alarm bells started ringing for me, when Neil Shipperley's return was greeted with a louder cheer than Parkin's arrival.
I think Schopp was hard done by. He came over on his own & was expected to work with the then current coaching team & a bunch of players clearly not good enough. It was the wrong job at the wrong time for him.
Im not that old - though I do remember McSeveney who at least prior to spackman (who I somehow forgot when composing my post) was by far the worst we had had
Spackman for me simply because he was backed probably more than any other post premier league manager we have had & made a complete pigs ear of it. Regarding Morais, apart from being barking mad I actually think he wasn't that bad & with a tad more luck he might have saved us at least we won some matches under him & gave it a go.
Spackman was arrogant beyond belief but completely hopeless. All his signings were a disaster from what I recall. He'd done a great job in a short spell with the Blunts and I was genuinely excited when we got him in. How wrong can you be.....
