Just 7 and a half months into a 30 month sentence?

That lovely person stole £2.5m and he's allowed to walk free after just a quarter of his prison sentence. It's a disgrace.

And yes I know a lot of big companies are also at it with tax dodging and the like but I don't subscribe to the theory that because one does it we should turn a blind eye or go easy when someone else does

They opened the door to his cell and let him walk out of the exit gate. I'm sure he had to put one foot in front of the other at various points during this venture.

Ordinarily he'd serve half of his sentence, but it looks like the early release ahead of this is linked to his deportation, as it's some sort of fast-track deportation scheme.

Perhaps he'll turn up in Rwanda, and Cruella can claim that they've finally managed to get someone there.

If you’re willing to get deported if you are not a British citizen they let you go early - straight on a plane to wherever you came from.

Set a precedent i feel. Wonder what his net worth is now. Might be a good idea that he keeps his head down and doesnt make a racket.

Deportation, and we cease to pay the (considerable) cost of his incarceration. Doesn't really matter how long he's served - it sounds like his 7.5 months were no picnic.

Serve half if sentence is less than 4 years -- over 4 years serve 2/3. If behaviour is good further reduction possible - if behaviour bad less remission.
o/t a lot of prisoners sentenced to an 'indeterminate sentence' - not a very satisfactory system - they have to meet certain criteria before being considered for release - some prisoners being held for lengthy periods for what appear not to be serious offences.
