Did what we had to do against poor opposition.

Mads looked solid at the back. Thought Kane was excellent in midfield, as was Cadden out on the left. Don't think any one them had a bad game today.

Got a bit more Xmas cheers on the drive back to Penistone listening to Wednesday fans griping on praise or grumble about not beating "teams like Exeter and Oxford...."

Agreed it wasn’t a great match to watch. Almost zero atmosphere as well but we did what we needed to. I too enjoyed P or G whilst driving back too. Especially those fans saying that Moore should be sacked because they are only 3rd

The comment from one of them reckoning they should get Robins from Coventry particularly made me laugh.

What disappointed me most (it was also noticable in his earlier games this season) was the performance of Wolfe. His contribution off the ball was zilch. Failing to track back with his opponent the main problem. I know he's just come back from injury but that's no excuse.
He was outstanding at the back end of last season and deserved the offer of a new contract. There certainly is a player in there. I hope he does'nt waste the opportunity to progress. As I reckon he will be playing second fiddle to others when everyone is fit. He's 22 and needs to push on and establish himself as a first choice.

Agree on Wolfe. at one 5 man scramble in the 1st half their guy came away with the ball and Wolfe watched him go....disappointing.
On the theme of the original post it was a poor game but right result. many a Liverpool. City or Utd season will have the same but who remembers if ya successful at the end..

Wolfe is 22 and only playing his 20th domestic game if you look at his actual time played. He did provide the pass for Cole's first goal and he made an excellent run before that to create an opportunity.

Definitely. And looked like lots of money raised for Yorkshire Air ambulance too. I enjoyed myself!

Cole seems just like the 'poacher we need'. How many times last season did crosses come in with no one even in the box not helped by the likes of Cauley playing deep. Getting round the back and breaking with pace did the trick yesterday

Good result but the players looked a bit ring rusty to me, wonder how much training time they've had on grass with the freezing weather, just a thought

Thought Wolfe was really poor the first 15 minutes but after the run from our box to their box he got a lot better & played a few nice passes including the assist.

He just needs games, confidence & fitness. It normally takes bigger lads longer to get match fit but you can see he’s got a footballing brain by the runs he was making for his team mates yesterday.

I just hope he doesn’t keep getting injuries.

Another game where Duff got us three points with very good management. I always worried about the day Pep leaves City, Kompany goes there and Burnley want Duff.

Yesterday though I overheard someone talking about the possibility of Belgium going for Kompany and Duff being wanted for Burnley. That would be awful but it wouldn't be a shock if it happened. Kompany is a Belgium legend doing well at Burnley so will be in the new manager chat. Duff with where Burnley are in the league couldn't possibly turn down the chance to return to his second love (after Cheltenham) and try and get them in the Premier League.

A good win but the highlight for me was the Grinch in the east stand handing the ball back to there players.

A workmanlike win ground out with a couple of moments of quality.
Defence was once again outstanding and I can't really remember Collins having a save to make.
Don't really get the Wolfe comments. One misplaced pass in the first half aside he gave the side the drive to get up the pitch, especially for a 20 minute spell either side of the goal.
Maybe I was at a different game but I can't remember thinking there was a lack of effort or tracking back.
Mads, kitching and kane (first half) best performers for me.

I agree with your comments particularly the ones criticising Wolfe, the lad has had a long injury & no game time , without illness in the camp he would have been on the bench but basically he had to play & did an o.k job , regarding the game it was a comfortable day at the office , never really had to get out of second gear & safely bagged the points with a weakened squad , no complaints from me.
