    Sensational game of football.

Maybe the 1970 final was better, and I have seen highlights of that, and the bits I've seen were good, but I wasn't born when that took place. I've just seen this live and it was amazing. Made me remember why I like football. Wonderful stuff.

I agree, it was a spectacular match. Even the first 80 minutes were hardly boring, Argentina's second goal for example was amazing, but what happened in the end was just legendary! "Rollercoaster of emotions" is such an overused phrase, but that's what it really was! Couldn't have asked for a better final really.

Easily the best I’ve seen. Summed up the tournament as a whole.

And another thing, how come some random Scottish guy who plays for Bournemouth of all teams was the best player for Argentina? Wtf was going on there?

Agree. It was an outstanding game.

The only shame for me was that the chance that France had in the 120 oddth minute didn't go in and it had to be decided by penalties. What a sensational finish that would have been.

The way that France were dead and buried, taking punch after punch, before suddenly finding something and being on top reminded me of watching Rocky.

He’s been brilliant for Brighton for a while. Can’t see him staying there much longer

Gone in January for an absolute fortune.

Still think the Moroccan midfielder was player of the tournament. Ounahi. Sort of player we'd have picked up in recent years.

If he's not at Barca, Real, PSG or a Prem club next month I'll grow a fringe.

I think the other Morocco myself. Amrabat! He was incredible. Even Hakimi. Was always going go be messi though. And to be fair he was exceptional, especially in the latter part of the world cup

For 70 minutes it was a dreadful mismatch. The rest of the game sure made up for it absolutely incredible game.

Just watched the match aving laid darn wi dog at half time an fell asleep, gor admit the first 2 3rd's were all Argentina, and all one sided really barring a few chances, then it was a really good game, not fantastic nor brilliant, but end to end, seen a lot of world cups an theres been better, a game is judged on the entirity of the match, not just a glossy 10 minutes and extra time. Good game and i'm glad ive watched it, my favourite world cup final was 1990, great thread great posts.

If you look at his personal life section on here, explains how he ends up Argentinian.

Still not as good as the 4-2 win at Rotherham in 1981.....
