How do we feel have we enough as it stands for automatic or play offs or do we reinforcement to do either. My own feelings are if we have a productive window auto are possible but still have enough if we a average one.
I think I've got enough as it stands but you can always do with a bit more! April could be pivotal as we get the 10.1% CPI uplift. Happy times ahead!
Hopefully not another "Best window ever"..think most on here would like to see one signing ..a proper striker..unfortunately because of our finances we would probably have to take a punt on someone who's performing in a level below us and hope it works...
Got to get another stiker in. Devante is doing well but with more help up there we could get to another level. As it stands we might make the playoffs, but there's room for improvement
Think you have to take it as read that the teams around us will try to strengthen to push on so think we need to have a couple of reasonable signings to help.
We've got the best defence in the league, but with McCarthy injured, we're lacking in cover. So I'd like to see an experienced centre half brought in on loan, and of course another striker. We've scored the same number of goals as Burton. Hmmm!
It’s no secret that we wanted another striker in the summer and I would say the need is no less acute now. If we can one in and hang onto our most valuable assets then I would be happy. Anything better - Great!
Another striker, & hopefully Tedic isn’t far off full fitness along with Thomas returning could see us cement a play off finish.
I think January is pivotal because it comes before February and March. This is followed by April, May, June and July. Then it's August, September and October. You then have November and December. It all comes back on itself because before you know it. It's January again.
I'd like two strikers in, be it on loan (more likely) or permanent. If that happened I'd look to offload Norwood to make up some of the funding, reckon there'd be takers in L2 or the National League. He's been a massive disappointment.
Two strikers and a right back/wing back needed for mine and then I think with Duff in charge there's a real chance of going up. Two strikers, probably one of which is a loan, gives us the bare minimum imho of 4 to sustain a challenge. We've walked a tightrope thus far - what with Norwood's injury and disciplinary record, we've been an injury or suspension to Cole away from having a 16 year old as our only striker at times. I say RB/RWB (pace essential) too as it as absolutely no coincidence that our one down-period/loss of form was when Jordan Williams was injured and we had nothing like an adequate replacement available - it would be negligent to let that happen again. I'm reasonably optimistic too - we were prepared to make £300k plus wages available in the last window at the height of the financial woes for a striker who then didn't come so the Board do seem prepared to stretch to a bit more. £300-£500k should get one decent signing and a couple of loans in. Additionally, the Board will know that the best way out of the ongoing financial hole they are in is to get promoted and so shouldn't be averse to supporting that with a reasonable sum. They should also know that they have a manager who is worth backing. And hasn't Duff said that he expects some incomings and none of his main players to depart? My optimism for this window may be mis-placed but I do think it's rational!
Three major things to be achieved for me 1 We HAVE to keep Mads! He's pivotal to everything 2 Get a decent price for Styles - needs offloading 3 Use money from above to fund strikers. Think Cole has done a great job, Norwood's fitness has come on in leaps and bounds but we need a goal poacher. Think we do need to keep Norwood - experience is good for the likes of Cole and Jalo. Didn't one of them say he was teaching them the dark arts earlier in the season? Not strong enough past those two!
You get to the end of December and the year turns round, again. Seems to happen every year. Nice if something else could happen…
Echo most sentiments on here. None of the first team to leave should be the first hope, but if they do, it can’t be Mads, Williams or a central midfield player. We need to add a rb/rwb and two centre forwards ideally, but definitely at least one striker if nobody leaves. Free up a wage by letting a fringe player or two leave - I’m thinking Jack Walton would get interest from league one or two, we don’t really need both him and Searle and as much as it’d be a shame, if we remain skint we have bigger priorities; a kid from the u21s would do the job Jasper Moon (Sraha for example) does though I doubt he’s on much money nor would anyone likely want him; Josh Martin hasn’t worked out so he should go back for his own and Norwich’s good, maybe to go on loan elsewhere. See if we can get a decent fee for Styles this window. If none of that, we need to find ten Bob down the back of the settee or summat as we can’t get away with a January like the Stendel season where all we really do of significance is sell a first team player. We haven’t got the squad to absorb that this time. We have more points at this stage with a weaker squad than that season due in my view to being better organised and better managed/coached.
