Exactly the same number scored, just we've conceded far fewer. Reckon we should make a bid for their top scorer in the window. Clearly knows where the net is at this level, even in a struggling side. Although I'd guess they'd be wanting £500k minimum for him, probably more. Which puts him out of our ballpark unless we sell someone.

Watch his chance on Saturday at 1-0. It's the reason we let him go.

The thing is, if I hadn't seen him play and was only going on his stats this season, I'd be clamouring for us to make a bid for him!

I'd rather get someone in on loan at the back and up front. The only players I'd like to see sign permanent are those that will be able to play in the Championship.

Given how the season is going so far makes me think we would have been in the automatic spots if we had retained big Vic and in he would certainly have been more of an asset than Norwood.

Read somewhere that we offered him a contract, but he turned it down

Not based on what I saw Saturday. May as well have not been on the pitch.

As I said at the time he barely had a kick all through the game. There was one bit of fancy footwork right by the ESL half way line in the second half but that was about it.

He might be good for Burton but he’s a long way behind what we need.

Read his stats whilst he was with us, that should put an end instantly to any clamouring !

Well you can say what you like (no doubt you will:)) but I’d take his 10 goals for Norwood’s 3 all day long.
I’m not saying he would cut it in the championship but then again neither would Norwood.
As for Saturday, don’t forget he was up against the best defence in the league

Not sure he got much service to score out. The fact that's he's the 3rd or 4th top scorer in the league in a team as poor as Burton is quite impressive. We have a striker in Norwood who fans were creaming over when he joined but has been quite a flop would you swap him for Vic in a straight swap in January? Purely hyperthetocal but I would.

I"l take his 7 career goals in 4 years for us & would have Norwood all day long, Norwood lead the line well on saturday & is a far better player than Vic bringing a lot more to the team, if you want proof of that look at their career stats & compare , the reason we have the best defence in the league is we defend from the front as a unit , totally different to Burton who will probably have more scoring opportunities than our forwards but playing their way also means they concede a lot of goals , the league table does not lie , Vic has gone ( thank goodness ) , let it go & move on .

The biggest mistake re stats most folk make imo. Is number of games played rather than minutes on the pitch. Was always a fault of those comparing him and Woodrow. Especially in the scoring stakes.
Eg last season championship games. Woodrow played 2 more games (28 v 26)
    Nearly 2.5 times more minutes. (2,200+ v 900+)
    Yet only 1 goal more. (4 v 3).
    1 every 550 minutes v 1 every 300 minutes.

To put a bit more perspective on it. In the 4 years playing for Barnsley (league games only) he played Circa 2,600 minutes equivalent to less than 30 full 90min. games on the pitch. Most of those as a novice striker.

97 appearances 9 goals in just under 5 years plus failed loans at Cambridge & Bristol rovers , no matter how you dress it up it is not good reading , he could go on to be a world beater but it simply never worked for him at Oakwell , thats football , Kaydon Jackson failed at Oakwell a couple of years later he became a million pound player , Keiffer Moore got shown the door at Ipswich but now is a premier league player & an international , my point is that sometimes for what ever reason it just doesn"t happen for a player . We can debate Victor all day long and state how many appearances & minutes he had on the pitch but what about on the training ground ? , surely he went into work every day & trained with everyone else & with the number of coaches he has worked with at Oakwell then they cannot all be wrong , hindsight is a wonderful thing , hardly anyone complained when he left but now he suddenly turned into Messy and the wise ones are saying " we should have kept Victor " , he had to go simple as that .

7 goals in 4 yrs. How do you want to dress it up.? I'd call that criticism of one player against another. I was just adding a bit of clarity. Yet you've used 97 appearances yet again ignoring game time. I wasn't claiming he's the best thing since sliced bread. Just offering a comparison. He got a lot of criticism over his stats. And when it was pointed out how much game time he got, and that those stats were misleading. The pendulum swung to his contribution to the team. Which I in general agreed with on a playing level. I've not once claimed we should have kept him. (Bear in mind very few wanted Cole to be still here at the start of the season) But I hope the best for lad.
Re Norwood the jury is out at the mo. But I'm hoping him and Cole can get it together. Be interesting who might come through the door in the jan. Window and who may get displaced. I hope Thomas recovers quickly and provides support to those 2. Or whomever is chosen.

This is the reason I didnt want May or Stockton. Yeah, great stats for last year. But they're nearing 30 and had only had 1 good season each. Nowhere near the reported 500k they wanted. Stats can be great but massively misleading at the same time

    Re the previous post G&tb
It's a strange one for me. I have no clue who is out there that we ought to be looking at as I'm only interested int tarn. So I can only pick up what's said on here. And the point made about Vic by merde tate is a very valid one. If none of us had witnessed his performances. Lots on here would be clamouring for him as a player on the up. I was one of those who was glad we got shut of Jacob Brown. Wrong in hindsight.
