The forst foul was on mads. It should have been blown up outside the box. If that is not given then the Bolton player did not have control of the ball therefore even if pen is given it is not a sending off. Plus the linesman on the west stand side had not got a scooy doo he didn't know if he was at a football match or the grand national. He was beyond a joke

Yes I noticed he walked off cheering soon as the card was given which looked a little suspect. Couldn't get rid off him before

Imho......Bolton were (ahem) influencing the ref from the get go. Hands up in the air for throws, that clearly weren't theirs.....going to ground easily and surrounding the ref every two mins. It shows experience and nous and it worked today. We have seen it all before...we are rubbish at it.
I stated before Bolton aren't that great. second half half we had a spell where we went at them and they were slicing kicks, humping the ball 60 to no one and booting the ball out of the ground!!
This game in perspective may do us a bit of good. The squad isn't that great but better than 65% of the rest of the division.
Only Exeter and Charlton have been to oakwell and footballed with us. Our football generally is good but we have to learn and I believe our coach and this young team are. We all know we need some quality additions....it wouldn't take a lot to get us in the play offs.
It may take at least another season under our coach to be a good side.

Another thing I noticed today, particular second half, when it was our throw the ref whistled and pointed to where it was to be taken from, yet didn’t do the same with Bolton throws. Strange but true

Was stood directly in front of me, ref was just stood waiting for the players to sort themselves out for the penalty and Lee walks over and starts saying surely that's a red he was clean through (which he wasn't) come on that's a clear red. Then the ref just caved and took the red out. Disgraceful decision

This is terrible. It sounds as though the game was stolen from us - just like that nice Nr Trump had the election stolen from him. Fancy, having a referee who is told what to do by one side's players. You couldn't make it up?

You can be as sarcastic as you like in my opinion the referee was unduly influenced by Lee he made no move to send Anderson off or even try to speak to him before Lee started gobbing off at him.

They absolutely did but they didn't football us. They came and did a real number on us by getting in our faces and we didn't man up to them. They deserved their win by doing just that but a footballing side they ain't.

It looks bad, but I'm not sure that it's the case that Lee said it's a red card, and so the ref decided to go along with it. I think he was gone anyway.

But we need to do better in those situations. No point being 'nice' and just letting Lee have a sole word in his ear. Andersen does an initial appeal against the pen, but shouldn't just let Lee shove him out of the way. Someone should've been in the ref's ear to point out that there was a covering defender and he was 18 yards out and not in control of the ball. I think there's still a naivety about the team, which also showed in how they were able to counter attack in get in behind us so easily three times in the first 10 minutes.

I think referees are well used to this sort of carry on - it happens all the time. They make up their own mind. I recall Beckham waving an imaginary red card at the referee after being tackled by Redders at Oakwell in 1998. But there will always be those who want to believe it's a massive conspiracy against us. Nonsense in my view. But that's only my opinion, like.

There would be recourse for clubs like Liverpool, Manchester United or Chelsea, but for Barnsley? No chance in a million years. The very best we could hope for would be an appeal reducing the red card to yellow. But that is fraught with danger, the sweet FA might increase the ban from 2 to 3 games.... McGeehan must be so glad he's not still at Oakwell.

That's all well and good but we're skint. Anybody half decent will be sold in the summer and more dregs signed next pre-season. We won't drop on lucky with six or seven free transfers that are half decent every summer.

I thought the ban for the denial of a goal scoring opportunity was one game not two - in fact I dont know what carries a 2 game ban except getting 10 yellows before the cut off date.
