The Beevor Court closure is hardly an inconvenience. Its less than half a mile whichever way you go from Beevor Court entrance to the ground . Using google maps directions on foot its 0.4 mile either way to the Ponty End. Depends where you sit , granted if you sit in the East Stand at the away end it is slightly shorter to go through Beevor Court but again, its hardly an inconvenience.

I have to disagree. People of limited mobility were able to be dropped off in Beevor Court with a short walk to the East Stand and the vehicle able to leave quickly and easily. To do the same now would mean driving up grove Street and a further walk to the stand. No need at all and no thought for some supporters who may now be unable to attend as easily.

To the East Stand and back that’s an extra mile round trip, fine when you’re fit and healthy but quite a task for anyone who already finds walking difficult.

Please read it again Jamdrop. What I am saying is there is not much difference between walking through Beevor Court or walking along the road according to Google maps. In fact the distance was the same on google maps for both routes and google maps has them going up Grove Street not through the car park. They have to pick one of em so the difference is zilch.

I don't really care what Google maps reckons, it's a massive difference in distance for anyone with limited mobility

From the entrance of beevor court on Pontefract road to the entrance to the turnstiles of the east stand is 315 metres. From the same point on Pontefract road to the same turnstile? 630 metres. Exactly double.

Have to get back again obviously after games so for someone with limited mobility they've added 0.66 kilometres onto their walk.

Personally I'd say that's quite significant.

Not sure where Google gets its distances from or where its measuring to

I just had a look at an online OS map and drew in the routes
To the box office in the centre of the Ponty there isn't much in it = my measurement via Beevor = 0.305 miles via Main Car park = 3.06 so to all intents and purposes the same

However if you are in the East Stand it does make a significant difference
via Beevor to centre of East stand = 0.175 miles but via the main car park = 0.39 miles ie over 2x as far. or an additional 0.43 miles
if going to the away side of the East stand its even more of a discrepancy.

Im in the West Stand and park at the Riding for disabled so for me its no issue as its marginally faster to go via the main car park which is my usual route, but if I was in the East I would be annoyed. I cant see why pedestrian access has to be blocked before and after the game

I got similar figures measuring routes - but gave mine in miles rather than meters but very similar results

Well I did say it depends where you sit and that if you are in the ES at the away end it would be shorter, but if you were at the other end it would obviously be less so.
