Who was the contact/scout/club employee who managed to get the likes of Ashley Fletcher, Josh Brownhill, Ivan Toney, Adam Hammill, Ryan Kent, Harvey Barnes, Kieran Trippier etc on loan? We've had a policy of no loan players since the takeover but now we're back in the market, the quality of loanee seems to have nosedived. Quina and Bassie were half decent but Martin, Tedic et al aren't in the same bracket as those mentioned above. Did the scout get poached by WBA or was it Patrick Cryne and his Premier League contacts who brokered deals?Be interested if anyone knows how it works/worked.

I seem to think we were in the championship when we got all of those players on loan from Premier League sides and we had a good reputation for bringing them along. All of which is something else we lost under Conway and co.

Toney and Fletcher helped get us promoted

We were in League One when we signed Fletcher, Brownhill and Toney. They were in the squad which won promotion in the play-off final in the 2015-16 season.

It always been a mixed bag though.

Toney wasn't that good for us. And for every brownhill, Fletcher and Trippier, there been a Rigters, Michael Smith and Martin

I'd suggest Quina, Bassi and Dike were brilliant loanees for us. Think Vita was pretty decent too when he started playing

Didn’t the same group that brought in Harvey Barnes also bring in Ike Ugbo?

Wouldn't mind us trying to get bassi back as the attacking midfielder and a permanent striker if we get 15% of the Holgate transfer. It says on trnsfermarkt he's worth 16 million. That's 2.4 for us then, nice:)

I think Maurice Watkins had a lot of good connections at PL level, not to mention Alex Ferguson, and maybe used his influence to good effect

The spreadsheet broke. Our loans have been noticeably worse since the days of those you've mentioned. I wouldn't want us signing any of the loanees we've got this season and wouldn't care if they all got sent back early.

He definitely wasn't as bad as some made out though. Scored some important goals for us.

That's true, but people look back at him now saying he was good purely because of the player he has become now.

Players like Waring who is now in non league somewhere was a better loanee for us IMO than Toney was. It is just that Toney has gone on to become very very good.

Waring got greedy and the few goals he scored went to his head. He had chance to stay here if he'd wanted but chose to try and force a move somewhere else. It was a shame.

I was really impressed during his loan. Hoped we would have kept him but never knew the story as to why we didn't etc. Bet he wishes he took that chance now with us. Shame he has ended up down where he has, looked great in his stint with us.

Yeah he went back to Stoke City after his loan expired because he thought he'd get a move to a bigger club if he stayed there. He knew they didn't want him but it was all about money.

You could definitely see he had potential but was only 19 the same age as Marsh is now. Which isn't a dig at Marsh I think he could have a really good career but my point is at 19 your no where near your best so if your scoring in league one your doing okay.
