Bizarre that it was a flop at the Cinema, yet to speak to anyone who has watched that and not enjoyed it.
Watched ‘The Banshees of Inisherin’ last week. As weird as it gets. Still can't work out whether I liked it or not.
It is odd. The acting is brilliant and the scenery breathtaking though. Mostly filmed on Achill Island off County Mayo in the west of Ireland. Well worth a visit.
I enjoyed it but see where you are coming from. I would be interested to know your opinion of The Handmaid's Tale. My own personal view is it is uncomfortable viewing but a modern day equivalent of Schindler's list in that it should mandatory viewing for each generation as a salutory lesson in what can go wrong if Govts are taken over by zealots driven by ideology and/or religion. Schindler's list did get a little too sentimental at the end, something which THT does not and at times, given many of the things depicted are actually happening in the real World in places like Iran, North Korea, Afghanistan Russia, is very harrowing and disturbing.
