The worst stand in football. Embarrassing that the deedars didn’t demolish it after the tragedy of 1989.

Bonkers they can sell every ticket in that dangerous death trap waiting to happen and we can't in our much better north stand.

Disgraceful, went there years ago when we didn't even sell out and it was scary walking down that narrow central tunnel. As noted above, that stand should have been completely demolished immediately after the disaster. I'd like to know who the hell is signing off on a safety certificate for that stand / ground.

Totally agree. But for me Bell end rd is nearly as bad. Given one of the exit gangways was shut. When we played there this year. For a premier league ground it has to be up there as one of the worst.

I was there, I was helpless for about 10 seconds. truly awful experience.

    Edit:

    This was pre 1989.

Look at the amount of Newcastle fans coming through that central tunnel approx 10 mins before kick off. Big bottleneck created. Seems there was also a lack of stewards directing fans. Disgraceful.

It would have been easier if they'd opened the decorative corner up. I haven't seen them use that corner even in the Premier League. Is it because there isn't a roof?

I must admit, when I've been to that stadium, it does seem a little snug to get out. Worst still is Leeds though as you have to go inside to get outside from the upper tier, in an emergency, your fked.

Used to always stand high up on that corner when we played there in the 1980's. Don't think it's been used for the last 30 years or more.
Imagine it'll be down to crowd segregation.

They wouldn’t want their own fans crushed to death would they.

Almost every football club has improved and built new stands because of the Hillsborough disaster apart from the fekin death trap keeping’s lane end stand itself .
Another classic example of our governing bodies intelligence .

"The allocation of tickets issued to Newcastle supporters also complied absolutely with the safety certificate."

I don't doubt it but who is giving Wednesday a safety certificate to allow that stand to be sold out? That person or people are absolutely bonkers.

Which begs the question of just how incompetent the safety advisory group in Sheffield is or whether perhaps they have, for whatever reason, allowed the club found guilty of shall we say creative accounting and extremely dodgy business practises Wednesday to get extremely favourable and lenient treatment...
