I used to hold same opinion.

But nah. Let him rot in solitary confinement for the rest of his life.

Of course it's costly, but let him have his days out on his own suffering with nothing but his own head and a tray of snap shoved through the letter box.

Making people go to London is indeed a serious penalty

I reckon his time in prison as a ex copper and sex offender will be far worse than death. So happy that’s where he’s going. Scum.

No idea who Damien Bendall is but capital punishment’s a right can of worms that’s best left alone.

Not really a can of worms, just doesn't work on any level.

“To a Christian whose belief system is rooted in forgiveness, the death penalty is unacceptable. To take a life when a life has been lost is revenge, not justice.”

Make him share a cell with Bronson. He doesn't deserve solitary. He should have to spend the rest of his days worrying when he wakes up in the morning if this is the day that some proper hard men get hold of him.

Sadly it wouldn't surprise me if the Tories opened up a new front of the culture war on the subject. "Labour want you to pay to keep this SCUM alive"

I can't think of any regime in the world still embracing capital punishment that I'd want us to emulate.

Forgiveness is down to the people affected by these monsters, if they want to forgive him that's up to them, but forgiveness doesn't absolve anyone from the consequences. This is a case where the only possible sentence is life with no possibility of parole whether he is forgiven by some of his victims or not

Looking at the sentencing and reasons in the Couzens case it's hard to see any other outcome than a whole of life sentence.

The death penalty is more expensive than life imprisonment

I think he's getting him mixed up with Barry Benall.
