Cardiff have appointed the fitness guy that Val took from Barnsley to West Brom to Besiktas today too.

Could have created something magical with us. Now he's on his way to having as many clubs as Tiger Woods.

Strangely suitable. Hardly known for nice football, Cardiff.
Though I did like Val, when he was here..:)

    Best manager since DW MK1
Brainwashed that square passing at the back is somehow good. We played good football where it hurts the opposition not us. And won 23 games. I’d take it over the supposed better football on show since especially under those two frauds last season.

This myth that we played no good football at all under Val, where has it come from? Wasn't always great, but was effective. But there was plenty of attacking play which was very enjoyable

Bournemouth & Brentford away were outstanding. What a pair of performances

I must have mislaid my rose tinted glasses.
The majority of the time we played anti football, interspersed with some decent stuff. I mean, purposely putting the ball out of play for an opposition throw in near their box,,,, you know, there were times when even though we were winning, I couldn’t wait for it to be over. Win? yes. Football? Not my kind of football. Now if was a professional footballer, I wouldn’t give a toss how I got my bonus, sublime or horrible, and I love it that we won matches, but the only beautiful thing to see was the points total in the league table.

I just don't understand it mate, it was a very, very good time in our history, one of the most enjoyable seasons in our history. One of our highest ever finishes in league positions. Why are people intent on crafting hyperbolic statements as though it was a bad period? As though it was Poya/Schopp? Acting as though we played like a Steve Bruce side; we didn't. There was a method to our madness when needed, but there was some beautiful football played at times. Finishing in play offs with unorthodox football, or relegated with crap tappy football (of which we couldnt even manage that half the time), there's no contest.

Why would we not utilise every opportunity to capitalise on our position when we're battling for play offs? I cannot believe the negativity people have for one of our most historic seasons.

While he had a phenomenal season with us, I still think it was an anomaly. Completely unique set of circumstances, which he benefited from massively. Arguably a one-trick pony, that eventually got sussed out.

The Bournemouth game away was a masterclass of outstanding management.
I remember seeing him dictating at half-time when we were 2-1 down the changes that needed to be made to beat a team vastly more experienced and supposedly better than us and then watching a superb Reds performance to win the game.
    That wasn’t anti-football.

I do tend to agree people have wised up to it, but I also don't think he's as bad as people make out. Look how far West Brom dropped when he got the sack? They were in play offs before, or around them. We had absolutely no fear playing anyone, so confident, even when conceding first... imagine that feeling now!

We were quick to move the ball from back to front, in a direct manner, and ensured we cleared our lines without neccessarily being a long ball team. We fought for every second ball, played a high line and pressed from the front. We didn't panic when we fell behind, which we often did. There were a few games where it wasn't particularly tidy, the games against Wycombe for example (shock horror) were harder to watch. But whatever it was, it wasn't 'anti-football'. I think you certainly watched something different to me of you couldn't enjoy it.

I take your point, but I wasn’t being negative, I was just saying we were ***** to watch. I can remember the days when Wimbledon and Watford played in a similar way , if one of our players was 6inches inside the opposition half, he was offside, We booed them so much that we couldn’t talk til Monday.

Yeah don’t get me wrong, was a brilliant achievement and he took us very close to the impossible. But I have no affinity towards him at all. He was away as quickly as possible. To him we were just another Club. And to me he was just another head coach.

FWIW I also personally think we could be having a very similar conversation about Duff within months. If we don’t go up, I suspect he’ll leave sharpish if a Championship club comes in.
