Just read my email copy of Barnsley council news and found out that photo id needed for folks to be able to vote.
Another excellent democratic improvement by the Conservative government.
Bring back the property qualification I say.
Stop emotional women voting as well.
Might be a good idea to give two votes to everyone over 75 too (they have lots of life experience and would vote sensibly).

    Evil, nasty, authoritarian anti-democratic twa.ts.

This is no surprise, it's been coming for years, straight from the Trump playbook.

On a related subject, how many on here or people that you know are aware that the ERG/UKIP lot are planning to dump 4000 or so laws enacted during our time in the EU WITHOUT replacing them with new laws? Some of these laws define people's rights at work and many fundamental human rights. This is what the whole Brexit thing was about, the ERG/UKIP lot don't really give a stuff about trade or immigration they just wanted to be able to rip up regulations like worker's rights and consumer protections so their buddies can do whatever they like to make more profit.

Pack your drivers licence or passport and go out and trash the Tories.
Can't be bothered to vote is a pathetic option by the way.

Yeah, or the 'they're all the same anyway' mantra.

My mam and dad don’t have photo ID (and not old enough for a bus pass yet). Dad does drive but has paper license only (it was issued before the cut off date and all details are still correct). He could get a photo card, and might now, but never had before as he didn’t legally need one and he couldn’t see the point in bothering applying, paying, and then having to update it every 10 years for no benefit. My mam doesn’t drive and won’t apply for and buy a provisional license when she legally isn’t allowed to drive anyway due to her eyesight. Neither have passports and won’t want to pay £75/£85 quid and go through the application process when they have no desires to holiday abroad. Is there a free option and will it be ready before May?

    • a Blue Badge
    • a biometric residence permit (BRP)
    • a Defence Identity Card (MOD form 90)
    • a national identity card issued by the EU, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein
    • a Northern Ireland Electoral Identity Card

You can also use one of the following travel passes as photo ID when you vote:

To get an acceptable ID just to vote is on this link.

Postal voting does not require photo ID

At least it’s claimed the Tories get the Pensioner vote so should just affect them if that’s the case

I have no problem with producing a form of identification but surely even a paper driving licence or utility bill should do to start with

Never heard of this. Does anyone know if us in Scotland will also be affected with this nonsense?

Oops I just remembered I now get a postal vote so doubt I’ll be affected.

Pensioners will have a bus pass. I’ve just remembered that my mam has a disabled person’s bus pass so she can use that.
