No, because it's age restricted. I can see an argument for sticking an agre restriction on it but banning it completely is some Mary Whitehouse style nonsense
I’m not a daily Mail reader, but I have read a fair bit on the topic and the pushing of affirmation first approach of many professionals who ought to know better.
Tbf a high number of teenagers with autistism are transitioning. It needs monitoring closely, teenagers are very vulnerable.
There are a lot of hoops to jump through, with lengthy gaps between stages of treatment. Anyone would think it was like changing your clothes from reading this thread. It is a very difficult process.
The thing is there aren't. You don't actually have to go through any treatment if you don't want to. Mental health wise though, it's a worry. .
People are starving and freezing to death, our healthcare is being systematically dismantled, our rights to protest and strike removed, and we have a planted establishment opposition doing nothing to stop it. But people are too busy talking about ownership vs non-ownership of cocks and fannies. That’s the hill people want to die on. The establishment elite are laughing at us, the culture war is working perfectly.
I know someone that waited over 3 years for an appointment at a gender clinic. By the time their appointment came around (it was rearranged 4 times) the person they saw was so unhelpful and judgemental that they just gave up on it and decided to just not bother. So please stop it with this nonsense that you are spreading.
My only take on this is that why are labels so important. If it is a friend regardless of what they identify as, I use their name. Anyone else, regardless of the colour of their skin, how they dress, whether or not they apply makeup etc. treat as a human being. If they are offended on how I have addressed them, personally, and I know some will disagree with me, as far as I am concerned, it is their problem not mine. I would not go out of my way to deliberately disregard their wishes if I forgot on any future meetings but certainly would not be embarrassed if I got it wrong. I have enough trouble remembering names, something I have suffered from all my life - nothing to do with getting old- without the added complication of gender labelling. With all that is going on in the World this is a none problem IMHO.
I'm not spreading nonsense. There is no necessity to have treatment if you want to be known as a different gender. Obviously some of those people may want hormones/surgery etc. And I'm not doubting you that appointments are in short supply either. And the person at the clinic should certainly not be judgemental, but they should point out risks and be sure that it is the right path to go down for that person.
The daily mail reader part was in jest Donny, I know you’re more honourable than that from our previous discussions. But in my experience, most students aren’t pushed from the school Proffesional side, merely supported through discussion. Parents are usually the ones pushing for the kind of change you describe. Also being gay doesn’t mean that the student would like to transition to the opposite sex. Also as Redhelen said and I touched upon, the reasons/factors for students questioning their gender aren’t always correct.
A debate on gender identity on a football forum? Is this progression? Judging by some of the responses on here I guess there’s still a long way to go.
Indeed on all sides I would say too. Personally I try to respect peoples gender identity while accepting that biological sex is a fact. This throws up some moral difficulties - Such as Trans women competing in female sports, Trans women being sent to Female prisons, these spring to mind as two that are in headlines more than others.
