Looks like it according to the twitter team sheet but surely we're not playing in the tyre track shirts when Pompey are in blue. Madness if we are.
Probably for the same reason we wore all white at Oxford on Wednesday. Red and white is renowned for clashing with yellow and navy
Once again can we request the person responsible for this decision at the club comes forward and explains why time and again we fail to play in our club colours.
Totally agree , it’s time the club give us full transparency on why we constantly change kit when we don’t need to . If , as I suspect, it’s a marketing exercise to try and get people to keep buying the 2nd and 3rd kits then that’s fair enough and at least we would know the reason. I personally don’t agree with it at all but at least if I knew the reason then that would help me understand it more. Wearing red is part of our identity which is so crucial as to why we all follow this little club of ours , i.e. a sense of identity and belonging. I am well aware I am fast becoming a nostalgic football romantic though ,although I don’t think I am the only one of those on here !
We should always play in red shirts if it is possible, perhaps changing the colour of the shirts and socks if we have to. Having watched the reds for over 70 years It still disappoints me when we play in the second strip when we don't need to, like at Oxford earlier this week. Whoever makes the decision, please please play in red when we can.
@YTBFC do you know anything about why we've been wearing the away kit so much the past few seasons? I can just about deal with it if there's no real clash but it makes the teams easier to tell apart, but in instances like today or Peterborough away, changing into a black kit which is closer to blue than our red home shirt is just utterly nuts.
On ifollow their local commentators were also puzzled as to why we weren't playing in red. The black outfit is quite drab. There's nothing better than watching two teams one wearing blue and the other red. Will Portsmouth wear non blue at our place?
Why the white socks as well? Pretty sure we’ve also worn red socks with that black kit - and yet there’s two different pairs of black socks available on the club shop site on the away kit page. If it was for marketing reasons then the white socks don’t make sense, you’d wear the full away kit as is, given they were in red socks. My theory of why, is that I know there’s a consideration for colour blindness now - I believe I heard that Jordan Williams is colourblind, maybe others in the squad, maybe some pompey players or ref too. In JWs case I don’t know what type or how severe. Maybe the shade/tone of our red and their blue was difficult to differentiate? And the white socks black shorts against their white shorts red socks made it easy to tell apart even if you can’t see the colour?
