    Wow!
There used to be a burger shop type thing outside prenton park called "bugseys belly bar!" so its fantastic this new one....maybe if we had a few quid we could invest in one.

I'm sure if Tranmere can manage it then so can we? I don't think building such a facility would break the bank in modern footballing terms.

One of the main problems/dilemma at Oakwell is it's just too close to the town centre which already as what the proposed Tranmere fan thing has in spades. (With bridge) it's a five minute walk to the ground. Pubs, cafe's places to sit meet and socialize are already there. Not to mention the history of folk always meeting in the Number 7 or Chennells kinda thing. It also shares the money around the local economy.
The away fans put money into the metro dome which is also an excellent venue 1 minute away.
I think unless we up sticks to a new out of town stadium then we already have everything we need already. It's the reality of where Oakwell is situated.

Barnsley isn't Liverpool mate fans come from all over the world to Anfield it's as much like a shrine as a football ground. Tours of the stadium folk want to be as close to there place of worship for as long as they can..
Barnsley is a relatively small town club with limited support and money.
And don't forget it was when Paul Conway took the helm, it was him that was saying.. that THEY wanted a better fan experience so the fans would spend longer at the club.. so spend . more money.
Just so they wouldn't have to put owt in.

If it works at other places fair do's.

Hardly call Tranmere a shrine though - only a few minutes away from a town centre as well.

I just don't think it would take much to make something very decent. All folk want is a good range of beers, 4 or 5 taps is plenty, from basic lager to some craft IPA depending on your taste, some decent fast food, and some nice decking to sit on. The burger and pork sandwich truck at the bottom of the car park is absolutely mint. You would literally need to move that to wherever the ale and seating area is located, add one or two more food trucks for a bit of variety - one with wood fired pizzas and one with Indian or oriental food, and you're good to go. Due to kids activities in the morning and distance, I rarely arrive earlier than 2.30, by which time I'm usually starving. It's nowhere near enough time to grab a bite in town but I'd still like to have something other than a McD's or a pasty hot dog in the ground, washed down with a swift half of something decent. I'm sure there are plenty of others in my boat. @Chef Tyke is at least one!

Speaking of Tranmere, I went to Stockport vs Tranmere yesterday and Stockport are much better equipped than us outside of the ground. They have a nice little bar/eating area round the back of their main stand, they exterior of the ground is new and very nice and this is a club that 5 years ago was in the National League North. Plus Stockport’s ground is literally sandwiched between the train station and a huge housing estate yet they make the most of it.

Can remember going to Stockport one Friday night pre 1967 edgely engine shed next to it and as the steam locos were coming in and having their fires dropped you couldn't see hardly anything for steam and smoke

Chandeliers are nice. And the palm trees. I've always thought that what Oakwell really lacks is chandeliers and palm trees. And bottles of Jack and fizz liberally strewn around the place for anyone to grab. And everyone drinking either Guinness or Irish coffees. And women dressed for a night out on the tiles.

If Tranmere build that I'll build one at Oakwell myself.

Envious of far too many clubs, their facilities & how they’re run & most of them are below League 1 level. There’s no excuse, we are tinpot & it’s about time the powers that be start looking to vastly improve things.

Running on a profit Would be a good start.
Preston losing 400k a week doesn't look good reading.
This season alone must be struggling to break even.

It shouldn't be that difficult but let's not kid ourselves, Barnsley FC come out with so much bull **** as to why things can't be done. It's just that overall attitude from the club off the field that is extremely poor.
The catering has been **** for so long, recently we were asked on here for suggestions as to what can be done to improve things. Like any of that will end up reality.

All these people moaning about lack of facilities, if it's that easy why not invest your own money, get a bank loan, or crowd fund to get such a facility up and running. A venue open 23, 24 or 25 days a year , bound to make £ millions.
