Last time I saw anyone cover a pitch as fast was Dike when he ran down the right wing and still got the ball.

Hope cotter gets some time to showcase his talents speed and long throws we have seen hope there is.much more to come.

Looking forward to seeing him as I missed the Portsmouth game on Saturday.

dunno if that throw was a one-off, or he has that in his toolkit. we'll see. an absolute beast though. while Marc Roberts had a long throw, they were more lofted, and far easier to defend, hence hardly anything ever came from them. the trajectory and pace of the throw on Saturday though, made it an absolute nightmare to defend. much more like Rory Delap's. obviously he has to have more to his game than just a handy throw-in like, and now teams will know about it. they just weren't expecting it at all.

When Duff was at Cheltenham, it was said that he liked his team to get the ball in the box as early as possible, and liked to use long throw specialists to utilise that.

He had Ben Tozer at Cheltenham and apparently they scored quite a few off his throw ins. We've tried it with Edwards, Thomas and now Cotter this season, so I imagine part of the thinking behind bringing Cotter to the club is for his long throws. Kane has been known to produce a long throw too (see our victory over Huddersfield on boxing day 2020).

In his interview on Deedar on Setdi Duff said he didn't even know Cotter had a throw until he ran down the touchline to grab the ball!

Every throw in within range will be like a corner. Then again we don't have a great record for scoring goals from corners, just conceding them. Not sure but it might just be easier to hit a given target with a long low trajectory throw like Cotter's compared to crossing or taking a corner with a kick. Whatever, it is a useful skill to be able to utilise.

Gaffer says he didn't know he had that in his bag of tricks until he took the ball for the throw in.

Doesn't seem to know much about many of the players brought in....... Just an observation, obviously all clubs have some sort of recruitment team.

From past interviews with Khaled, Dane Murphy etc. It seems the head coach says what position he wants a player in, and is given a choice of players in that position.

There seems to be a general feeling though that if Duff doesn't identify them, he won't be on board with them. That's not aimed at you, just what I've noticed others say when it's become apparent that we've signed a target Duff hasn't identified.
