    Same as yours buddy.

    22nd July 2020.

    Clarke Oduor's winner at Brentford.

It's impossible to explain just how ****** up that season was. My favourite season. It began - after promotion back to the Championship under my second favourite coach - so well, as I'm sure we all remember. Debutant, Luke Thomas helping us to an incredible victory over Fulham. But then the results went south, the coach and club fell out and we looked doomed. Struber arrived. I'll be honest - me and Gerhard didn't get on swimmingly. He was very emotional. Results affected him badly. I'd just lived through Stendel for 12 months, who was like a best mate. Who could also be emotional, but very empathetic with it. I also had the J*** B***** stuff to deal with.

Incredible coach though, Gerhard. You watched him in training and felt "if only he had more time..."

We picked up some results, it wasn't hugely impressive, but we had definitely improved. About this time three years ago I went on a weekend break with the missus to Brugge. We beat Fulham 3-0 in my absence. Some performance, some result. I was drinking 8.5% Delirium at the time in a lovely Belgian bar. I did wonder if the beer was playing tricks with me. Few days later I returned to see us beat both Middlesbrough and Hull. Three on the spin. Felt like we'd cracked it.

Sadly, we went to Reading (I ******* hate Reading, the most pointless, tinpot club with staff to suit) and were unluckily beaten, then lost in a sad manner at home to Cardiff, and the bubble had burst somewhat. I think we were about 9 points adrift of safety, something daft. Couple of days later, we held a fan engagement forum in the Legends Suite, I can still recall Dane sat there up top, and me at the back. I wanted to go up and hug him at times. He was getting some right sh**e. Stuff that wasn't his doing, but there you go. He wasn't well-liked and it made me sadder still. Great bloke. At that time (and a question was raised about it) the COVID-19 issue had arrived.

Just a few days after that, the club shut down, football shut down. The world shut down (to varying degrees). I was one of those saying we shouldn't retreat. I felt we should crack on. No idea whether that was the right or wrong mindset, even three years later, and having just recovered from my third bout of COVID that saw me miss Portsmouth away at the weekend.

But 'that' period was horrific. Stuck at home for three months. Football was knackered. Cash disappeared. You all know the score. Jobs were at risk. I felt fortunate somewhat. The club needed what we provided, and we were able to provide it from home regardless. And myself and my colleagues rallied, from home. Despite the worldwide 'pandemic' and all the fuss. We recalibrated the mindset of the fans during that bleak period. Pumped folk with positivity. Happy videos of yesteryear. Happy moments of recent times. Then the green light from authorities, football would return.

Coming back, we were still all those points adrift. And had to play QPR away. QPR, away. We hadn't won there since Jesus walked on water.

    The rest is/was history.

So yeah. To see Brentford equalise like they did, that night, it seemed inevitable that they'd go on and win. "Well done, Barnsley. You gave it a good go."

But no. We ******* deserved to beat them. When Clarkey scored, I went mental. Properly. Then apologised to my Brentford counterparts. Don't forget, they were going for promotion to the Premier League for the first time. It was huge. They told me to stop apologising - they'd be doing the same. At full-time I ran on the pitch and went mental. I recorded it for my own purposes. My boss at the time saw it later on and said "stick that on social media, it'll bang big time." Which we did, and it did.

I've seen us beat Liverpool, Man Utd, get promoted to the Premier League. None of that comes close to Brentford away July 2020.

That whole period is the best I've experienced. There were no fans, but that's part of the buzz. It was just so weird. Nobody expected it of us. It was us in the club against the world. That's how it felt, and how we treated it. Everyone fighting for their job.

A year later, we nearly made it to the Premier League. Again without fans. Under my favourite coach.

    Up the Tykes.

I had just come out of the Navy and Joined the SYP, first based at Hackenthorpe. Match duty in midweek at Brammall Lane sat on the touchline in front of the Barnsley fans. Seeing Glavin for the first time, forgetting just where i was and what i was doing. Up I jumped and from that moment on i never worked inside Brammall Lane again always on the Streets. Certainly memorable anyway, just maybe for the wroong reasons.

Loudest i heard was when we played Newcastle at home. i was ill. lived at Monk Bretton near Redfearns.
had the patio door open. Bobby Hassells injury time equaliser to make it 2-2. The noise was amazing.

lots already covered on here, but I think the most standout randomly losing my mind goal for me, was the winner at bromsgrove. only time I've even been physically sick after celebrating a goal...although having a gallon before the match probably contributed to that.

    Hard to pick just one
In relatively recent times Oduors winner at Brentford - probably the most I've ever celebrated a goal when on my own at home
Howards last minute winner at Anfield after we had just been denied a stone wall penalty
Hammills Wembley screamers - Millwall one just edging it

One left field one from years ago Banger Banks in a cup game against Cardiff. - at the time we were in the 3rd division and they were 2nd (I think)
we were leading 2-1 going into injury time and we kept playing for what seemed like ages until Cardiff finally equalised
Ref allowed us to Kick off again and we got a corner straight away - Corner was headed clear and as the ref went to blow for full time Banks hit it on the volley from outside the box in off the bar before the ref could blow the final whistle. Scored with the last kick of the game

I started celebrating that one, but then had to sit down, as it sunk in and I thought I was about to pass out.

The noisiest one I can remember in the Ponty, and I’ve been a Ponty regular since 1977, was Winnall’s second against Walsall to put us 3-0 up. We hadn’t quite settled down from his first goal, but that goal nearly tore the roof off.

Don't know if it's already been said but Georgie Williams goal against Peterborough, the west stand was absolutely bouncing when that trickled in.

A brilliant atmosphere in town and at the match that day. 3 or 4 days previous we played Scunny in a drab draw on a freezing night.
I'd got some international visitors to entertain, so took them for a pint in the Dove and then to the match; guess which match? Needless to say, I don't think their " match day experience" stayed long in their mind.

If we’re talking celebrating at home it has to be Adam Hammill’s penalty, although it was a stop-start celebration when we thought it might be bouncing outside the goal. It was my son’s first year as a season ticket holder, and the jammy little sod saw us lift two trophies at Wembley. I’d been waiting 39 years to see that and some of you even longer.

I had some of the lads round for the Fleetwood game and we had already had the moment when the TV froze as we were attacking, only to find my son, then 6, standing there with the Sky remote, having paused it because “I need the toilet”! There had been lots of mentions about Wembley throughout the evening, and when Hammill stepped up to take his I told my son that if he scored we’d be going to Wembley. As it went in we all celebrated, none more than the boy, who was shouting “we’re going to Wembley, we’re going to Wembley”. When we all calmed down he quietly said to me, “daddy, what’s Wembley?”

Fastforward to the Millwall game, as we were packing for the weekend I asked him what he was going to wear to Wembley, his Reds shirt, or the JPT final Wembley t-shirt. He looked at me and said, “daddy, what do I usually wear to Wembley?” I told the cheeky little sod to make the most of it, because it could be another 39 years till he goes again!

For purely in the moment reaction to the goal, the equaliser with 9 men against Liverpool was up there. Unfortunately, we all know what happened next.

Derek Bell scoring the winner late on, in 1979 division 4 promotion chasing game against Grimsby Town. Over 21,000 in Oakwell. Explosive chaotic jubilant ear splitting roar and everybody dancing and jumping like loons.
Also when big Trev headed past Man City,s Joe Corrigan also at Oakwell in front of 33,400.
The only 2 times I have felt close to being crushed to death at a football match!

For me, it's probably the winning goal from Derek Bell against Grimsby back in 1979. That victory ensured our promotion back to the Third Division after seven years. Over 21000 were in Oakwell that night and the joy of finally achieving promotion for the first time as a fan for me was absolutely brilliant.

I know what you mean with Aylott's header v Man City. I was about 2/3 of way back in Ponty but after the goal ended up down the front.
Pre Hillsborough, crushed terraces were the norm then. The 4-2 win at Rotherham in the same season was also a frightening experience, both inside and outside down Millmoor Lane.
