    I couldn't agree more.
    Should leave it as is.

I think he should quietly live out the rest of his life in peace. Can't imagine that a new series would be any good, judging by his last TV series "Hold the Sunset".

Totally agree too, some things should remain untouched.

John Cleese hasn’t painted himself in too good a light in recent years and him signing up to GB News didn’t help too much either.

He’s a man of a certain age who can’t or won’t realign his thoughts or actions to modern society and I would think Basil Fawlty will be an exaggerated version of exactly that.

But his daughter is involved in the creation and she is not that at all - and despite it having zero chance of being on the bbc given previous incidents, whichever broadcaster/streamer picks it up will have some creative control/veto - I have to admit I’m curious to see it and would watch it.

can't think of one comedy better or as good second time round but many that aren't open all hours for me the chemistry between Ronnie Barker and David Jason made it the reboot is just silly daft comedy, cleese just doing for the cash as he's skint paying for a divorce .

I imagine initial viewing numbers will be good, purely out of curiosity. It's got Rob Reiner behind it, so it's got some clout. Just don't really see the point in it all, beyond easy money.

Connie Booth was the co-writer of the original & I don’t think she’s involved. & Prunella Scales is poorly with dementia illness.
It sounds like he’s doing it for his daughter, which isn’t a bad thing, but make something new..
It’s a shame Cleese has veered right in old age, intelligent bloke.?

I imagine he still receives royalties each time the Python shows and films are shown on TV. Not to mention what GB News is paying him. Not a poor man by any stretch of the imagination. Better if he just sold a couple of his houses and live on that.

So only one of the 2 writers - no Connie Booth, Prunella or Andrew Sachs in it (no Major or the 2 old dears)! It was brilliant but of it’s time - my view is that it won’t translate at all well today, except to those who hate the (supposed) “wokerati “ & who want to stick it (again) to Johnny Foreigner- will it now be “he’s from the EU/Brussels”? Love the original / series but this will be awful (in my view)!

    Im utterly underwhelmed
The Original was probably the best sitcom of its time - in fact I think its my favourite though a couple of others run it close (Green Wing, Porridge, Open all Hours for example)

Would an updated version work with no Connie Booth, Prunella Scales, Andrew Sachs etc - I don't think so.

As mentioned above the reboot of Open all hours wasn't remotely close to being as good as the original In fact I gave up after the first couple of episodes The follow up to Porridge didn't really work either.

If Cleese wants to write another sitcom that's fine by me but has to be something different. I'm sure I will watch it out of curiosity but will be amazed if its even close to being as good as the original

It's certain to be a poor imitation. Probably more like Farty Towels or Flowery Twàts.
