Last of Summer Wine was 5hite after Compo died and his real life son took over. Then it went dafter after George and Mildred guy came in.
That went down when Foggy (Brian Wild) left first time round, but certainly second time around. (It needed Sid in the Café and Wally Batty).
It was a good series but should be left alone. Too many of the original cast cannot be in it. It would be like remaking Only Fools And Horses. Cleese is doing it for the money as divorces have knackered him. It wasn't that long ago probably last year that he was having a go at the BBC. Money talks.
I thought John Cleese's mantra a la Meatloaf was: I will do anything for cash, but I won't do that. But he will. He'll resurrect Fawlty Towers.
Mr Waring is still there, waiting for a gin and orange, and a lemon squash, and a scotch and water!. Hopefully Basil will finally serve him his drinks.
It simply won't be as funny. Just that. Even Cleese alluded to that when he said 'how do you top that?'
As he has aged Cleese has become increasingly unfunny and given he is the last man standing of all the component parts that made it work , can’t see anything but disaster.
I can't agree on that, in it's golden days, it was alright. Maybe not great, but alright. Maybe it went on 30 years too long though. Incidentally, one episode early on was filmed at Cannon Hall (S01E03)
Indeed, a touch of class definitely lol. I wonder if Lord Melbury got sent to prison and got roughed up by the guards in there. Ohh hang on, he wasn't a lord was he, and neither was his mate the Duke of Buckley.
