I've got a bike. You can ride it if you like.
It's got a basket, a bell that rings and
Things to make it look good. :)

Take Pipers, add Jugband Blues from Secrets, then his two solo albums and the demos from Opel, and it destroys the entire body of work of Pink Floyd (after Pipers)

One of my favourite Pink Floyd tracks is Lucy leave: It's quite raw.

Mmm, I’m clearly in a minority then, cos I think the albums from Meddle to The Wall are ace, particularly Animals and The Wall. I tend not to worry myself too much about the artist’s personality or political leanings, as many of them are arseholes or show support for questionable causes. John Lennon supported the IRA, for example.

The reason Pink Floyd don't sit right with me is there was no transition with them. They just tore it up and started again. Even Dark Side of The Moon was a massive contrast to how they began.

It would be like Cliff Richard doing punk rock.

With the Beatles it started with rhythm and blues, then went more psychedelic and finally heavier without being Led Zeppelin. I reckon if they'd carried on it would have been close to Wings.

I think his fathers death definitely effected his views on the futility of wars, The Final Cut is the greatest anti-war album ever - The Gunners Dream is absolutely brilliant, he hated Thatcher and he hates the apartheid regime in Israel - something that is bound to get you accused of antisemitism as if there aren't any Jews against Israel's oppression of the Palestinians.....
It seems he's made the mistake of saying that all parties bare some responsibility in the current war - yes he condemned Russia's invasion as illegal, but it seems you can't point out that Western policies have provoked Russia - whether intentionally or not.

As for what Polly Samson has to say - I'm sure we all take Yoko Ono's view on Paul McCartney as gospel do we? There has been a long feud since Roger's left, fueled no doubt by Ego's - on both sides - you're not telling me that Gilmour isn't a smug pretentious person? To lay what happened to Sid Barret at Water's feet is just ridiculous.
Roger Waters is a prickly personality, no doubt, but being a bit of an @rse is generally a required qualification for rock starts, he's right about most things regarding the world, but some people don't like to hear it.

I know little to nothing about Roger Waters or his political views. I never liked Pink Floyd anyway.
It bears repeating on a constant loop though that criticism of the Israeli government does NOT make you an anti semite. The current Israeli government looks to be particularly extreme and distasteful.

It's like suggesting that those of us who are critical of The Tories are against Christians or Whites or British people or summat.

I don't care what your ethnicity or religion, the policies of the Tories and the Israeli government are those of fcktards.

The track when the Tigers broke free is about the tank battle his father died in.
Him not ever knowing his dad has obviously had a huge impact on him.

Gilmour didn't just produce the solo albums, he played just about all the instruments on them, including drums. In later years, he learned to play the saxophone so he could teach his son to play. Possibly the best all round pop/rock musician of his generation.

My favourite album, closely followed by Wish you were here. Third place goes to the live disc from Ummagumma.
The film Live at Pompeii is great too.

Russia invited him. Which was ironic given he condemned their invasion of Ukraine. Not before time mind.

Yeah but it's a bit weird that anyone from either side is allowed to just invite random pebsioner celebs to the United nations security council.

Sky Arts aired a documentary called The Wall with Roger waters, it shows a gig & snippets of interviews with Roger Waters who goes into great detail stood at his fathers grave.
Personally I love Dark side of the moon & The Wall, & really enjoy the Gilmour led albums, especially The Division Bell. The Pulse show at Earls Court was iconic!
