The bookies have us at 11/8 favourites for victory in this one, despite us failing to beat Vale in our other two meetings this season. Vale are on a run of 2 victories in 11 games in all competitions. Those came against Morecambe and Forest Green who currently occupy relegation places. At home, Vale have lost 3 of their last 4, albeit all defeats were against sides either in or pushing for a play-off place. They have the 16th best away record in contrast to us, who are the 4th best away team. In terms of head to head, prior to our defeat in the PJT a couple of months ago, we were victorious on our last league visit to Vale Park, back in 2016, which was our first victory there in 8 visits, stretching back to 1996, a game memorable for John Hendrie's first Barnsley goal. I'm going for a narrow victory in this one, with James Norwood netting early to secure the points.
I know were gunner give somebody a reight hiding before long, i'm sticking with mi 4 / 5 - 0 prediction, C,O,Y,R.
With what's coming up in March, we need to be beating "teams like" Port Vale. U can all blame me now.
I'd take a draw. They have goals in them and a tough place to go. I was there for the 3-2 defeat too in 2006. I'm going for a 3-3 draw. Looking like top two might be beyond us so points on the board are better than nowt.
Apparently the pitch is a shocker by modern day standards but I think we're in a good vein of form and so if we've got our finishing boots on we'll win it 3-1.
Port vale on a Tuesday night. Don't like the sound of that. Grim place, I think we may not turn up for this one and may put in a poor performance. I'll have to go 2 nil to PV.
