Would he leave Wycombe and a very comfortable and secure role for that at QPR where he may not last 12 months. I'm sure he's had opportunities to leave Wycombe previously but has stayed loyal.
Seems unlikely that he would leave what is effectively his job for life, but you never know. He surely can't see Wycombe going up this season given the competion above them so why not have a crack at it? But he might adopt Mick McCarthy's attitude of never going back. I don't care either way to be honest - we're better than Wycombe aren't we?
Its just ludicrous though, wasn't Critchley appointed just 12 games ago!. What are owners smoking these days, when it comes to pathetic hiring and panic firing.
I get that in this day and age you can’t win only one in twelve. The financial margins of relegation are just too stark. What I don’t get is why clubs are giving out three and a half year contracts if it’s totally plausible that a manager only has three months to perform.
Wycombe have just beat Derby and Bolton at home, following beating Ipswich in December. Beating the top sides at home is what we have to do in the next few weeks. March could make or break it for us.
I think Wycombe would let him go with their best wishes. Allowing him to test himself and achieve a good payday. They'd welcome him back with open arms if and when he was available again if they have a vacancy. Eg sacked a manager. Darren Ferguson hasn't done too bad on that front.
That Club is all over the place. Maybe the Board need to be looking at their own performance, before recruiting the next one.
Last QPR Manager didn't last 12 weeks never mind 12 months I suspect he can see Wycombe going up - I certainly can, I expect them to finish in the playoffs and then they have as good a chance as anyone else Beaten Bolton and Derby in recent weeks, thumped us earlier in the season of course they can go up The question really is would he want to go to QPR at the moment - ordinarily I'd say no but he has a long history with them and was a player for years there and a popular one too. He might just be tempted
This sounds fairly likely - there’s a chap on their bbs who seems to be in the know who said it’s far down the line feel sorry for them, but their loss is our gain as it is likely to have a negative impact on their season
I think the QPR board have done the right thing though, they have gone from being in and around the play off mix to sitting above the relegation dog fight. I wish we would have shown the same ruthless aggression with Poya last season. Paying up his contract early and offering Warnock an incentive based couple of months at the helm should surely have cost less than the alleged £6m shortfall that relegation left us with.
Although…. talk sport reporting that QPR have approached Dean Holden of Charlton … Wonder if they will approach Duff too.
QPR would be the club Ainsworth has been waiting for. Two previous caretaker manager positions there and well over hundred games as a player for them.
